Hopkins Law Firm provided excellent service to me throughout a complicated and contentious divorce proceeding involving custody issues and a roughly one million dollar estate. Whitney Pennington was my lead attorney with steady support from Michelle Hopkins. My case took a while to progress, as we were dealing with an opposing lawyer who was slow-rolling at every opportunity. I always felt like my case was in good hands with this firm, and they always acted in my best interests. I like to be in charge of the process, so Whitney laid out a strategy and let me choose various paths, indicating the pros and cons of each decision step along the way. They provided excellent communication, and I always had confidence that I knew what was going on. They are all Internet savvy, which makes communication easier for my busy schedule. Whitney, Michelle, and Lindsay provided email drafts of every official communication for my review before and after releasing, so that I could be involved in every decision. All of their actions and filings were very timely, and their responsiveness to my needs was outstanding. They made me feel like I was their only customer. Whitney is compassionate, attentive, and caring, while still fierce and cunning when necessary (and it was). She involved me in the process, patiently explained laws, rules and procedures, and she let me know when I was being unrealistic on certain topics. That's exactly what I needed. Michelle’s so called account guy, who Handles finances calls and harasses you with no proof of actual work!!! Just got an email from Michelle Hopkins threatening to sue if I don’t remove this review... lol what a joke they are... freedom of speech gotta love it... I guess this reallly hit home;) Again please please please find another law firm or you will get ripped off and bullied!!! Also I forgot to state that they will throw secret fees in and try to sneek it in! And if you catch them they say ooops sorry our fault... HIGHWAY ROBBERY and than if you don’t pay they use a frivolous attorney to try to sue you and illegally jack up costs from let’s say 8k to 12k... They are now under investigation this is all I can say thanks to our great Virginia bar and federal system.

I had used this firm in the past with great results so I decided to go back when I needed some advice on a certain business matter I had. I was told that they could assist me. However, they recommended that I seek out an attorney that specializes in my particular business situation. They even gave me the name of a local attorney.

I spent over 9 months with another Law Firm with little to show for, except a debt of almost $40K.
Ms. Hopkins brought order to a very chaotic, emotional, trying case that had no end in site.

Ms.Hopkins picked up the pieces of my case, set a court date right away, worked with me to develop of strategy and ultimately finalized a settlement within 5 months, without me accumulating another large debt for lawyers fees. Opposing counsel's client was difficult to work with, at best. Ms. Hopkins was able to strategically motivate the OC and his client to keep the case moving forward and move toward a favorable settlement.

The Hopkins Law Firm is professional, efficient, and compassionate. My correspondance were answered timely and thoroughly, Michael and his staff were efficient with billing, answered and explained all questions or concerns quickly. Ms. Hopkins is a kind, dedicated and extremely sharp attorney. She and her firm handled my recent divorce and while divorce can be expensive, I never felt any of her actions were aimed at merely increasing her fees. In fact I can remember multiple times where she specifically laid out multiple courses of action along with the cost for each...many times her recommendation was not the most expensive option. She and her staff explained each of them thoroughly, gave me their recommended way ahead, and then let me make the decision. She seemed to understood that I, being a Type A, attention-to-detail oriented military officer, needed to be allowed an active role in the planning and execution of the proceedings. She seemed to inately know what I needed and could seemlessly move between being a good listener, a counselor, an accountant, and even to a hard-nosed legal bulldog that knew when I needed that kick in the rear to make the tough decision that were required of me. She guided me through a difficult, contentious, and stressful 13-month divorce process and helped me achieve every single goal I set during our day 1 conversation. Michelle's communication skills and style are very direct and plain language which makes it easy and efficient to do business with her. She was encouraging with her advice while still being respectful of my wishes. I couldn't afford to have outrageous legal bills because my ex decided to stop paying me child support and alimony. The Hopkins firm was successful with getting me all of the money owed to me plus interest and legal fees paid back to me.

Absolutely horrible. $20,000 in and absolutely nothing accomplished.

- My wife is an adulterer - so I had cause for divorce - yet I'm the defendant because Hopkins never filed, opposing counsel filed instead.
- Asked Hopkins in April 2015 to get a court date so I could finish the case. She promised in May that it would be a day or two - but didn't file for a date. Opposing counsel ended up filing for a date in July (for Feb 2016).
- Opposing counsel sent a settlement offer (not a good one) in May 2015 but I didn't receive it until July 2015.
- She regularly left my questions unanswered, which makes me think she didn't even bother to read my communications to her.
- It seems her sole purpose is to milk her clients. I told Hopkins I couldn't keep sending her checks for simply shuttling demands from opposing counsel to me and my answers back. Instead of a talk about what I needed/didn't need from her, she promptly resigned as my attorney.

Believe me, you are better off skipping this office.
