We had a problem with VA State tax back in the Fall 2015. The state put a levy on our bank and investment accounts, took all of out money, and threatened more legal actions if we couldn't come up with the rest (over $60k). We called the firm and Glen drove all the way from Indianapolis MD to see us in Fairfax. The lessons learned is two-fold: You should have retained a lawyer as soon as they put a levy on you. Second, the State clerk is a bully/jerk and would not listen to anything you said. You need a lawyer ASAP. I would recommend Frost and Associates. After the initial consultation, Glen left us in good hands with Alicia who has been in constant contact with us, fighting the battles for us. She could get a final settlement of about 6k and a full refund of the levy on our bank/investment accounts. It was a long hard winter but we were glad we had the Frost team on our side. Their service/hourly rate of about $385 was well justified. The rate is different depend on how hard your case was. But think about it this way: Would you rather pay a few thousands for a service or risk losing 60 thousands, your entire bank account, and perhaps, your job? There are good lawyers in this world.
