I hired Richard Wexell to handle a difficult child custody case for me. Richard was always responsive and professional. He took a personal interest in the outcome of my case. Richard made it a priority to deeply understand my personal situation and provide legally sound and compassionate advice. Most importantly, he made a number of excellent decisions that I believe helped me retain custody of my son. His legal knowledge and trial skills are excellent, and he was extremely well prepared for trail. I would highly recommend Richard and his firm for Family Law in Northern Virginia.

I'm a former marine and Retired MPDC OFFICER.. I sought Mr Milmans help after being highly recommended.
I came to him after another law firm mishandled my case.. my case was due to be thrown off the docket within 30 days if certain stipulation weren't met!
Mr Milman handled my divorce efficiently and Most professionally !
He took charged and quickly analyzed the issues and moved me forward in the right direction.
I was most impressed with his firm grasp of the legal issues ..
His responsiveness and attention to detail from both Mr Wexell and Mr Millman was AMAZING !
ME AND MY FIANCE THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

I spent over ten thousand dollars these "expert" lawyers, and now I pay over 2 grand a month in child support, and still don't have split custody of my daughter. Would not recommend. Overall disinterested an insincere, keeping you on the hook with retainers until they've got your money and can ignore you afterward, and seem to work more in favor of whomever is after your financial assets.
The family legal system is heavily skewed against men in the first place, but this is just absurd, because I'm paying a literal yearly salary in child support on top of what should be refunded to me by this law firm, on account of gross negligence. They basically handed a gold digger with NO legal team a free salary.
Mr Richard Waxell is the most amazing attorney A compassionate honest and a real fighter In court !!!! If you want the best look no further

Richard Wexell was nothing less than professional throughout the entire process. I received prompt counsel with everything presented clearly in support of my intentions. I would absolutely recommend Wexell Milman to anyone. I will return to Wexell Milman should I need to seek legal counsel again. I would not want any one else to represent me.

Sarah Annear and Doug Milman handled my child custody and divorce cases. They surely are one of the bests in town in how they handled the sensitivities of my case. They are very gentle, patient and thoughtful throughout the process and always give expert legal advises in settling the matters. I extremely value their opinion and have high regards for all of them at Wexell Milman. They continue to support me as things come up and promptly respond in any case. I could not have made it on the other side successfully with all my cases settled in a powerful way especially without Doug's excellent way of handling it. He encouraged me throughout the case in a positive way which always gave me hope that things will be settled. I am forever grateful to Sarah and Doug...I am very glad to have found them.

Richard and Doug handled my divorce together. I met with several lawyers because we are a dual-military family and so there were a lot of nuances and specifics that had to be included in our agreement, so I wanted to make sure I had people in my corner that knew about the military and some of the clauses that protect the parents concerning deployments and duty transfers. I couldn't have been more pleased with their knowledge on the topics, and in a case where the answer was unknown, they found it immediately. Both were sensitive to the topics and the heavy emotions associated with divorce. In the beginning they kindly reminded me what lawyers are there for -- they are not your therapist, they are there for the dirty work.
Richard and Doug encouraged me to explore every option in order to keep court costs down and litigation out of the picture since I was also dealing with custody and the sale of our home. Richard said during our first meeting, "You don't want to go to court because you will both lose tens of thousands of dollars and that money is better spent on your son." That phrase still resonates with me because he could not have been more right. They both remained (still remain) calm when my ex would spout off threats of custody and litigation, etc., and assured me that he was just emotional because this is a hard time. I feel confident that had my case gone to court, they would've turned into pit bulls to ensure a positive outcome for me. Thankfully my case never reached that unfortunate level though.
Throughout the mediation process, they reviewed countless versions of our agreement and made changes that at the time I did not know were necessary, but now being one year post-divorce and out of the "fog of war", I bear witness to how important some of the changes they made and clauses they included really are, especially as it pertains to minor children. They were EXTREMELY detail oriented and meticulous in their review process. They have always been easy to communicate with, with extremely quick response times. I have never waited more than 24 hours for an email or return phone call. Once the paperwork was filed with the court, we were all surprised to get the decree back in under three weeks. I actually misplaced my copy of my custody agreement and reached out to them over Christmas break to make sure I had my ducks in a row for the exchange, and they emailed a copy they had on file within a few hours.
Doug and Richard continue to be available via phone and email whenever I have custody questions. Their billing is extremely competitive and reasonable. I don't think I would have found lawyers to handle my divorce who offered this level of exceptional service at manageable cost and who continue to be available today. I trust them implicitly when it comes to the dirty work of divorce and changes in custody. They really do care about customer service, so when I reached out with a question about my father's divorce status, Richard quickly tracked that information down through the courts and forwarded it to us.
I've had nothing but a positive experience with Doug and Richard and will continue to keep their contacts handy, though hopefully I won't need them as much as I needed them a year ago!
