I hired Kathryn Reeder and her law firm in 2014 to start my divorce process. At a time of extreme stress and lots of fear giving that I was in the country without extended family, was a mother to a 1 year old baby, and was not working, Kathryn was never available, and would not return my calls or emails in a timely manner. She would make sure to charge me every penny for anything and everything she did, or any word spoken to me. My ex and I at one point decided we were gonna try again, and it just so happened to be one day prior to a court appearance. I contacted Kathryn right away in oder to cancel the court appointment, which I researched and saw it was possible to do. Kathryn, of course, was not available. I was only able to get a hold of her 1 hour prior to the meeting, and she advised me to go even though there really was no need for it, which I was only able to check afterwards. After the extreme brief session at the court house, she asked me if I would like to get some coffee at the cafeteria, and I accepted not knowing any better. She proceeded to give me very personal advise, and tell me her life story. We spent about one hour or 1 hour and a half at the cafeteria speaking about nothing legal at all. I learned later when I received my bill that she charged me for all of it. She charged me for the trajectory to the court house and back, for the personal advise time, and for reviews. All in all this very brief courthouse appearance cost me over $1000. I tried to reason with the law firm, and was denied any review of charges. I fired Kathryn and the firm from my case right away. I did proceed to get a divorce, and I was blessed to find a much better lawyer and honest law firm. I did consider filling a complaint with the BAR association back in the day, but I was already so overwhelmed with everything, I did not. This has been stuck in my mind for years and I will never forget what she did to me, and how she made me feel. I will review the time period to file a complain with the BAR, and might still do so if I can. I would never recommend Kathryn Reeder and her law firm to anyone.
