Michael is no doubt an exceptionally brilliant and highly skilled lawyer that I have came across. The way he leads the case in the court is truly impressive. His strategy on each aspect of the case is crystal clear and his execution plan focuses on meeting all the client needs. He doesn’t leave any minute details and bring up solid arguments throughout the trial to prove his point. I do like his strategy of bringing up out of the box ideas and thinking beyond the case to find out more information which we never thought of before. He has been very much involved with us and set the right focus for us that helped us to do better prepare for the case. I don’t have any doubt that if we did not have Michael’s support we would have been very unlucky.

He opened totally new dimensions for us in a marriage annulment case that he fought for us. He led the case very strongly from the beginning in an efficient, strategic and calculated manner. Not only he worked out several options with us to proceed but also guided us how the case can be settled out of the court. His command in the court and approach towards opposite counsel was phenomenal. He not only understands the dynamics of the case but also the psychology of opposite party and acts accordingly. He is well aware of all the emotional aspects and its outcomes in the trial while at the same time he knows how to tackle and elaborate what is normally overlooked.

We are still waiting for the final decision in our case, but we are very happy that we made a sound decision to hire him. i called michael nathans few times because i had a court date on july 15th for a restraining order , after like 10 attempts in few days he finally got back to me ! then he gave me an appointment few days after, the day of my appointment i sent him an email asking him if we are good for 5.15pm, his answer was are you going to bring me money?? and i answered yes of course i always pay. then no news , sent like 3-4 emails same day and no answers! i told him my court date is in 2 weeks what should i do? and the automatic answer was i'm in vacation. i also emailed his assistant jonny and same no answers!
when they got back to me a week after it was for an invoice of $240, just because he talked to me 2 min on the phone lol.
thats crazy he doesn't care at all (only money money and nothing else), if you're looking for a good lawyer don't hire michael nathans!

He fought for me without even going to court .. after writing up my declaration and filing the motion in court and mailing it to my ex and her attorney "who both would try very hard to keep me from seeing my daughter who would consistently violate my visits with my daughter after making a full drive from Las Vegas to California it was a hell of a roller coaster .. a nightmare ....when I would arrive to California and her attorney and my ex would just cancel the visit ... after being served paperwork from Michael

My story is quite simple but serves as a cautionary tale for all single parents going through legal difficulties within the family law system. Five years ago, I was advised to seek mediation services as I was going through divorce proceedings. The advice I received was to be a 'nice guy', work with the other parent in order to resolve issues, create a mutually fair court order and seek child development services from third parties. But, after going down that road for many years and realizing that my father's rights were being trampled upon and outright ignored, I finally had enough and decided to seek the services of Michael Nathans. My results may be an outlier, but within 8 weeks, we had a court date, documents prepared, forms filed and everything finalized. I was able to obtain 50-50 custody of my son along with resolving many issues that had previously been ignored. We now had a signed court order that was fair and I attribute this amazing outcome solely to Michael's hard work, diligence, tremendous speed and work ethic. After availing myself of his services, I realized that I had made a mistake previously (with the other mediator). My son and I wasted many years of our lives trying to seek a fair outcome. Michael proved to be a STRONG advocate for me and fought hard for my rights. Therefore, if you're in the same boat and find yourself with seemingly insurmountable issues, hire Mr. Nathans ASAP and don't make the same mistake I did long ago. You will not be disappointed !!!

I don't do many positive reviews because I'm very critical of who I do business with. I typically expect to get what I pay for (I'm an engineer and don't have extra money to blow). However, my attorney Michael is a special case. My review is a little wordy but worth the read, especially for those who may think Michael is overpriced as some of the reviews may imply.

I have to say that the most rewarding investment I ever made was in my family. It began when I came to Michael in desperation after other attorneys told me the best I would ever get in having custody of my daughter was every other weekend and maybe a day during the week. Sound familiar? I was mortified of the future they painted for me while they took my money but I did not settle for mediocrity. Michael was able to do in a matter of hours what other attorneys could NEVER achieve. When I came to him, I had not seen my daughter until she was more than 1 year old but he was able to get 50% custody and ultimately full custody in her teen years. That's not to mention all the issues he successfully closed in between (including when my 2nd child was passing away and "baby-momma" decided to take our child out of the country without my consent-he was a force to be reckoned with). He advertises a zealous approach but he is honestly on another level professionally. Michael has been my advocate through thick and thin. Even as my daughter's needs changed through the years; together, we litigated with many other apposing attorneys as they all failed in what they thought was a slam dunk for them.

Don't be fooled by the price tag as often us men do. He is extremely efficient, strategic, and calculated and my bottom line always looked good at the end of the day considering what we achieved. He owns his reputation for being reasonable, to-the-point, a high code of ethics, and able to close the deal diplomatically but in court he demonstrates a command of the language and process.

If you end up working with him, I strongly suggest collaborating with him but most importantly trust and follow his lead for best success. He's a cut above the rest for many reasons I won't bore you with.

I feel safe in knowing that whenever life happens, he's always at my side to protect and shield my family.

His office is extremely good at taking complex and often emotional issues and resolving them in a favorable, timely and cost effective manner. Michael's fees are commensurate with the quality of service provided and a much better value than many large practices. If you really want to know what an expensive lawyer is like, try hiring a bad/cheap one!

Reasons I chose Law Offices of Michael Nathans:
(1) Michael is personally involved in your case - some firms outsource cases and your attorney shows up to an important trial seeing the details of your case for the first time.
(2) He is rational and logical. As many famiy law matters are often emotional, I appreciated that Michael was the force for calm and solution-focused. Unfortunately, some attorneys thrive/prey on this by escalating an emotional issue, usually for good theatre, but rarely for cost effective results.
(3) Michael is straightforward and diligent - the other side may be entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts!
(4) I appreciate Michael did not waste my time nor prolong my matters beyond the getting the best outcome and moving on...other lawyers often look to extend sources of fees.

Given my overwhelmingly positive experience w/ Michael's office, I am skeptical the negative reviews posted here are from actual clients - more likely from opposing parties.

I want to make sure no one gets represented by Michael Nathans. You can be at your lowest, financially and emotionally, but Mr. Nathans sees no compassion. He will charge you for every little thing. Including phone calls that last for 2min. He then rounds it up costing you a fortune. His negative attitude on the phone or in person makes the experience even worse. If there is any thought of an attorney just wanting your money, it's Michael Nathans.

Choosing Michael Nathans to represent me during my divorce/child custody was the worst mistake I ever made. I found out that my husband had acquired representation only a few days before our first hearing. During my first meeting with Mr. Nathans instead of listening to the facts of my case he proceed to use fear tactics about the process, named dropped all the judges he knew and was very pushy about me signing his contract. Unfortunately I was desperate and I signed. However, I explained to him very clearly that I was a single mother working part time and his retainer of 5,500 was my entire savings and in no uncertain terms would I have any further funds past that amount. He saw my financial disclosures and pay check stubs that I had no additional funds and he still took the case. I asked to be notified about the status of my retainer during the process. I thought the process would go quickly and smoothly as the other side wanted a reasonable resolution. However, Mr. Nathans put together a completely unreasonable proposal, that he billed me hours for, and sent it to opposing counsel without even showing it to me or getting my consent. The proposal was completely unrealistic and put a halt to any reasonable negotiations. I sent him an email saying that I felt my requests “were not being heard,” and wrote out in bullet points exactly what I was asking for. He ignored this request and preceded to bill me for hours of unproductive bickering back and forth emails with opposing council. In addition, he billed me for hours emailing and trying to schedule depositions from my husband. I told him I did not agree with that as my husband and I just wanted to come to an amicable arrangement and this deposition non sense was eating up my retainer and not getting us anywhere. He told me as my attorney he did not have to clear things with me? During my meetings with him I felt barked at, demeaned and unheard. After 10 business days I received an additional bill for $2,000 on top of the 5,000 I had already given him. In addition, I had two court appearances that Mr. Nathans did NOT attend with me. He said he wanted to save me money, while at the same time billing me for frivolous emails and the deposition non sense. At the final court hearing Mr. Nathans withdrew himself after I told him I could not pay. I went alone. The judge ordered me, my husband and his attorney to mediation. I brought the bullet points that I had sent Mr. Nathans early on that he would not put in a proposal and send to opposing counsil. My ex -husband and his attorney immediately agreed to all I requested and the whole thing was over in 20 mins. Now, I have received a notice that Mr. Nathans is taking me to small claims court suing me for $2,000. Again, I am a single mother and recently laid off. I don’t know how he sleeps at night. Unless you want to spend upward of $20,000 and draw out you divorce, take my advice, DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY.

Do not hire this man to represent you. He will go through your $ 5,500 retainer in one week, billing you for frivolous emails and not accomplishing anything. He does not care about his clients, only how much money he can rip you off for. Trust me!
