When my father had a heart attack, and my mother had a stroke 2 weeks later, Rebecca Gardner and HMS drew up an emergency trust and estate preparation within a couple days and she came to my mother's house to perform the notarization. When my mother passed three months later, Rebecca worked with my sister and I to handle all of the filings, paperwork, and even attending court! She explained everything and made sure we always knew what was going on and why. We could not have made it through the way we did without Rebecca and HMS. Thank you!

I have worked on many cases in the state planning and probate areas with this firm. They are very knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional. The other comment and rating looks to be form someone who wants something for nothing. Most estate plans run between 2000 and 5000. When you do business with a professional firm it does cost money because you are getting a job that's done right.

Several semesters ago, I attended an estate planning presentation given by a lawyer, Rebecca Gardner, of the HMS Law Group of Sacramento before one of the senior's seminars of the Renaissance Society at CSUS, Sacramento. I was very impressed with Ms. Gardner's talk, so when it came time for us to have our living trust updated (Restated) my wife and I contacted and met with Ms. Gardner. We met with Ms. Gardner on 4-18-16 for approx. 30 minutes (NO CHARGE) and left our existing trust, wills and all ancillary document with her to be updated (Restated). It must be noted that our pre existing trust, wills and ancillary documents were up to date, except for the addition of one individual who had been deleted and who we wished to be added again to our trust. This was the only change required, On 6-1-2016 we received a bill for services from Ms. Gardner for $595.00 which covered our second and final meeting with Ms. Gardner and her charges for reviewing the documents left with her. On 6-20-2016 we received by Federal Express the Restated Trust and other documents, with the only change being the addition of the one aforementioned individual. On 7-2-2016 we received a second itemized bill from Ms. Gardner for an additional $2, 326.90, bringing the total amount billed by Ms. Gardner to $2, 921.90 for this restatement. I must mention that we initially informed Ms. Gardner that we wished, being retired, to keep our costs to a minimum for this restatement, to which Ms. Gardner responded "my usual fee to complete a new trust, wills, etc from scratch is $3,000.00, so I would recommend that we charge you hourly to keep the cost at a minimum for this restatement". As can be seen Ms. Gardner came close to charging her full flat fee just for a restatement of an existing trust. Both my wife and I were most upset with Ms. Gardner's unconscionable final billing and when I protested, Ms. Gardner agreed to reduce the total bill by one hour of her time, or $350.00.

At my wife's insistence I paid the final adjusted billing, but it doesn't end with this. I believe, most strongly, that we were taken advantage of by Ms. Gardner and her HMS Law Group and I will begin proceedings with the State Bar of California, recognizing, of course, that I will be be dealing with other members of the "legal community".

My advice to anyone seeking such trust assistance, is that they practice the "due diligence" that I failed and avoid any contact with Ms. Rebecca Gardner and her HMS Law Group of Sacramento, unless the fee for services is of no consequence to you.
