Let me first start off by saying, i did NOT CHOOSE this firm it was recommended by my agent. Also this was the purchase of our 2nd home so we definitely weren't new to closing attorney's and didn't know how good we had it the first time around until we met preston! We actually were selling our home and purchasing a new one and preston was the closing attorney for both deals. While selling our home he was surprised we came to the closing which i wanted to review the documents which was NOT sent to us before hand. We were shorted a $1000 for earnest money because the sellers had switched closing attorneys to accommodate an earlier closing date for us. Instead of him including it as a sellers credit he said "oh they'll mail you a check" When i had questions about certain figures on the Closing disclosure you could tell he was getting annoyed like i wasn't suppose to have questions about the sale of MY HOME and payment transactions! I didn't think too much about it until it was time to purchase our home a few days later. I didn't get a "CD" to review before the meeting and was called 2 hours before to close. Not his fault it was our agent but that's another review for later. Beside the fact i was late because of the short notice of closing, it was no parking and did he try to give suggestions? Nope. When i finally got in the office you could tell he was annoyed by his demeanor. Soon as i sat down i seen errors which any smart closing attorney would of caught. The HOA had a balance before we closed of 80+ dollars instead of him deducting that from the sellers he had us split the cost even though we hadn't even moved in when this accrued. (Keep in mind HOA is $15/quarterly so it hadn't been paid in a while!) So when i mentioned this he huffed and puffed and said the loan would have to go back through underwriting and we wouldn't be able to close that day if i wanted to "argue over a few
dollars" So i let him know it was fine because i was tired of dealing with this whole process. I also mentioned to him we still didn't receive our check from the sale of our home and even our agent was confused as to why he didn't include that in the Closing disclosure, he assured us he would look into it and reach out to us. After signing everything we were told we didn't have any keys to our home except for the ONE KEY in the lock box because the seller was out of town. After everything was signed he took off to register everything and that was it. Now i thought i was done with him..NOT. I never received a copy of ANYTHING FROM HIM except for the signed CD for the sale of our home nothing we signed for the purchase of our home. We closed on the 10th and i reached out to him around the 20th about still not receiving all our money which i was told he wouldn't write me a check in advance because if the original attorney didn't send the check he wouldn't be able to recoup the funds! This was his fault and he stepped back with his hands up after he got paid! I had to reach out the original attorney and come to find out the check was just mailed the day before and Preston had been lying about it being in the mail! They also notified me it was wrote out to preston because he never sent them documentation that it was actually my funds. Needless to say i'm very frustrated and annoyed with his law firm at this point. I instruct him since he can't write me a check for HIS MISTAKE. that when the check does come to hold it and sign it over to me. I sent my husband to pick up the check on the 20th and i look at it and he has signed the back and wrote of the front pay to the order and my name. HE'S A FREAKING ATTORNEY HE SHOULD KNOW HOW TO SIGN A CHECK OVER PROPERLY AND THAT WASN'T THE CORRECT WAY! Needles to say my bank would not accept the check and told me i had to get him to come down to the bank to confirm it wasn't fraud. I had to wait at his office and make him go to the bank to get MY MONEY. Unprofessional is a understatement. I gave him 2 stars because i finally got my money and the keys 14 days later!!! STAY AWAY FROM PRESTON.

If I could give a zero I would. This guy doesn't have the best mood to start with, then he will wait until the day before closing, after telling you that there are no worries and no problems, that he can't close. Please don't waste your time.

Preston Nelson has a solid knowledge of real estate law. Adding his experience and integrity, I bank on his advise.

We emailed Mr. Nelson to ask if we could set up a time to meet in order to go over title information on a property we were trying to purchase. We asked what his fees were and since the fees were higher than other title and escrow companies we decided not to meet and never agreeed to the fees or services. We also never received a title report. Today, randomly, we received a bill for $225, the day after Christmas! We never met, never received any services and never agreed to services, verbal or written. This is poor business practice and also feel that, as a lawyer, Mr. Nelson has poor ethics.
