I've been using Doug Claxton for all of my property closings for the last 14 years. Here's why: Doug, as compared to all the big law firms in town, is FAST. The closings can happen earlier. Doug's rates are lower than most other closing attorneys in town. He is super down-to-earth and honest and never unnecessarily charges for anything. Also, he has on two separate occasions advised me NOT to buy a property , which cost him $500 each time. He saved me from losing my butt on both of these properties as there were physical and legal issues with both. I have had to use other real estate attorneys in town at the buyer's insistence, and have suffered each time. Stick with Doug: it will save you money and time and a hassle.

Doug was the buyers Attorney on the closing of my house in Asheville. I found him to be contentious to work with. He made things difficult for both I and the buyers. He told the buyers that they "had" to have a survey of the property, when there was two current surveys of the property, with one recorded. He charged me $150.00 for three wire transfers, which was his preference for funds dispersal. I realized later that I was also charged by my own bank. Greedy. I would not recommend him or use him again.
