Warren is conscientious, reliable, intelligent, and professional. He did great work for me and I'd happily work with him again in the future. He explained everything to me clearly in terms I could understand, and followed through with excellent results. His knowledge and experience in family law is unrivaled - some of his work has become case law! In fact, the lawyer on the other side of the table clearly respected Warren very highly, which helped resolve things very quickly and effectively.

Warren did a fine job. I think we worked together, and communicated well, as a team. We established three or four key points. Gathered facts and data, and presented those in very clear, almost irrefutable Exhibits. Being as highly motivated as I was to win this case, I was willing to put in whatever hours were needed to generate documents that supported the arguments as Mr. Shiell indicated. All in all, the outcome was better than I had hoped.

My experience with Warren was excellent. He has a very patient and friendly manner, and at the same time he is timely and approachable. In my international case, he gave me good advice and won my case in court. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

My experience with Warren was excellent. His thorough knowledge of family law and his patient, friendly manner was very much needed and appreciated in dealing with my divorce.

He was able to anticipate any number of issues that might come up in dealing with split custody of my children. Warren was able to consult and advise me on what to expect and how to handle various issues. Everything from where they would go to school, to vacations, and extracurricular activities like after school sports, etc. He didn't focus solely on how assets would be split. He helped set up a measured, personalized plan that my ex-wife and I continue to follow.

I have recommended and will continue to highly recommend Warren to people who are in the process of separation or divorce.

Warren Shiell did an excellent job representing me. He clearly knows his subject matter inside and out, and is highly articulate in his arguments. I found him to be not only very responsive but also proactive, as well as reliable and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Warren in any matter regarding family law. He is very smart, an expert in the field and an excellent person to have on your side.

I hired Warren Shiell to deal with a relatively straightforward matter involving the renegotiation of the final stages of my divorce agreement. While the legal aspects were not complicated, I needed someone who could help me plan out a strategy in advance (I came to him almost six months before a deadline mandated in the agreement) and be sensitive to the psychology of the situation. I’m sorry to report he was inattentive both to the case and to the notes I gave him about dealing with my ex, was difficult to reach, called out of the blue only when it suited him, failed to draft a proposal letter as I repeatedly ask him to do and then, with just a few weeks to go before deadline, disappeared on vacation for a month without any forewarning. The one document he produced was a strategy sheet, which largely reproduced work done by a forensic accountant (for which I had paid separately) and proved to be almost entirely unusable after I hired a new – fabulous, efficient, attentive and effective – attorney.

After I dismissed him, it took him more than a month to provide a final billing and a check for the balance of my retainer, and then only after repeated reminders that became necessarily more insistent. In the wake of his dismissal, he charged three times as much for the last month as he had for previous four. He insisted he had charged me correctly for the work he put in, but I saw scant evidence that that was the case.

I was deeply disappointed because Mr. Shiell came warmly recommended as a tough but fair-minded divorce lawyer who charged reasonable rates and gave clients their money’s worth. That was not my experience, on any front. Perhaps he didn’t find my case all that interesting. If so, he should have turned me down and/or referred me elsewhere, not wasted my time and my money. Others beware.
