If burnt out attorneys and bitter paralegals are a history you especially prefer to avoid, I urge you to consider three points about my experience with Thomas O’Brien.

1. I am a rare disability classification, which currently has no avenue of clinical testing for SSA disability approval. Furthermore, my physical disability is invisible to the untrained observer and it is more stigmatized than patients with epilepsy. Historically, SSA rejects patients with my diagnosis of severe disability.
2. Thomas O’Brien is a champion for rare disability types. His knowledge for these situations is not strictly derived from client representation. His meticulous focus, upon satisfying SSA criteria, received accolades at the conclusion of my hearing. Both of us arrived, for the appointed time, expecting to argue the issues and no such thing took place. Answering the first question given to me, I finished one sentence and the judge politely skipped to the medical expert for his record of findings. Without further questioning, the ALJ compassionately awarded my disability approval within seconds. Thomas O’Brien’s expert representation won my disability hearing, before it could begin on January 14, 2019. I am still in a joyful state of shock.
3. Equal to O’Brien’s professional value, is that from his Senior Paralegal, Tracy Sugg. Her authenticity sustains in every communication she has with the client. In addition, her compassionate nature never forgets that a client has the right to be innocently clueless ,or scared to death. She replies as if it is her first day in the job and it’s your first day contacting her. Compassionate listening skills from a paralegal means important details (including those to be seemingly unimportant) are given consideration in the transfer of information to your lawyer. The process of filing for disability comes with so many obstacles between the appointments for evaluation and all the needed paperwork and records that many people get so overwhelmed they decide it’s to much to deal with while being sick and trying to keep your best health and sanity first. I was one of those people, I got denied multiple times after going to every one of the SSAs evaluation doctors.. I felt defeated, I didn’t understand why no one could see past my age and the fact that I “looked healthy” and see what was really happening inside of my body. I was overwhelmed and that’s when I was pointed in the direction of this law firm. There were multiple times that I was so overwhelmed that I wanted to walk away, no one else believed me so I started doubting myself. I would not have made it through this experience if it wasn’t for Tracy Suggs. She went above and beyond for me. She handled absolutely everything so that I didn’t have to. She called and emailed me to get all of my updates and she sat on the phone with me for hours to ensure we had everything we needed to get the correct records but more than that, she made me feel like I still mattered even when I felt like everyone had just written me off. I contacted Feiler & Associates based on some of the online reviews for Mr. Thomas O'Brien and his paralegal, Tracy Sugg. I called his office for guidance and Tracy took the wheel. She was very compassionate and unbelievably patient, I felt immediately that she and the team were capable and knowledgeable of assisting me. From the first time I spoke with her, I felt less alone dealing with my situation which had become overwhelming. Not one but two very large firms had already accepted my case, however I wanted a more personable approach and that's what I got; I could always call and speak to someone directly.

Several years ago I became disabled and decided it was best for me to inquire about getting legal help to assist me. I searched for a small firm that specialized in disability cases. I read the reviews and decided to go with my instincts. I met with Thomas O'Brien for a consultation and felt very comfortable and reassured. All my questions were answered and he spent a good bit of time conversing.I liked the idea that he was going to be the one to represent me and I wouldn't be pushed off to another lawyer, like many firms do. I would rate zero if I could. I was on the phone with an operator from their office for 45 minutes, answering hundreds of questions. She told me they would be calling me the next day. Here it is now more than a week later and still no phone call. Even a phone call saying they couldn't take my case would have been appreciated.

I highly recommend Thomas O'Brien. His office treats their clients as real people, instead of just paychecks like so many other disability lawyers do. I had been denied when I was represented by another lawyer who was completely unprepared for my hearing. Mr. O'Brien's paralegal stayed on top of making sure the Social Security office received all of my updated medical records throughout the process. I was also able to communicate primarily through email, which was a huge plus for me since some of my medical conditions make telephone communication very difficult, and I always got a prompt reply to any questions I had. I had an excellent experience with Mr. O’Brien and his staff. After working as a paralegal for over 25 years I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and then Parkinson’s shortly after. Excellent! I was in a very bad situation, I filed the case myself and was rejected, then hired an attorney specialized in SSDI. I thought he and his team were take care of it for me. Only, I was surprised by the 1st attorney’s paralegal just 2-3 days before the hearing, he fired me and told me that he can not represent me in the hearing. Was not able to speak with the attorney, nor was provided any specific reasons.

I called the court and explained my situation, and was granted continuance, in the mean time was told this is only continuance I was going to get and the judge was not very happy.
