Update* not sure why this doesnt show up on reviews so just a quick update.
I teach emotional intelligence internationally - and BJ demonstrates an outstanding ability to empathize with his clients, has outstanding self-awareness, self-regulates (even when encountering horrible cases of humanity), is highly motivated for your legal cause, and has outstanding social skills as well. He is outstanding in what he does.
From the very beginning, his staff are professional. BJ is strategic, represents both the legal and emotional sides of all cases, and to be honest - provides outstanding legal strategy saving you money and keeping you out of the court room. If however - you make it in the court room - THIS IS WHERE BJ IS AT HIS BEST.
I highly recommend BJ, his firm, and his legal expertise!

let me update this based on the response from the Owner... I did call in to do a consultation. Free or not is not even relevant. If I pay for a consultation fee would your advice be any different? Would she have still have said the same thing? Would you represent me differently? She did offer to make an appointment. However, I did decide not to based on what she said she was told by the attorney's in the office. She is a representation of the attorney's she works for and when she clearly stated " this is what I have been told by the attorney's here", that did not give off the right vibe. Had I not known this to be a situational issue, and depends on many factors, I would have simply thought she knew what she was talking about. Thankfully I did know better. Maybe your attorney's are great but I will look elsewhere. Thank you.
I initially met with J Abbott as an initial consult and explained that I needed divorce paperwork guidance with forms and filing as I recently moved to GA and was not familiar with the process, however it was going to be very amicable and my spouse was not getting representation, I would not be needing any court dates, hearings, or trial, nor even a mediator. He assured me that he could help me get the proper forms needed and help me along the way so I placed my retainer.
I did not speak with Mr Abbott again nor did I go back to the office until the very end only the paralegal via email. The paralegal double charged me for time spent preparing generic paperwork in which she apologized as “ she was confused as she was working on multiple cases and got the cases mixed up” in which I did not get hours refunded, I was charged for hearing preparation, billed for temporary hearing filing, when I challenged this I was told this was standard procedure even after I explained multiple times this was not needed in my circumstance. I did not receive my first bill until my retainer was dissolved. I kept calling for a “ monthly” bill and was told it had been sent- three months later when I received my bill I was appalled. I called immediately to dispute the charges and complain about the incompetency of the para legal. I questioned the over charges and hours billed for an undisputed divorce. The para legal having to go back and correct mistakes she had made from not following the original emails and billing me for her mistakes of time needed for corrections. I could go on and on , the para legal ended up getting let go, I ended up taking the paperwork and filing myself to avoid any further charges, however I never received a refund. I got nickled and dimed. There were constant issues with receiving my bill on time. Then I had to do my own research to provide the para legal with the advice and guidance I initially requested in the first place. I got responses as “ I’m not sure how to handle that”. I received my divorce however with no further guidance on how to change over titles, mortgages etc etc that other colleagues who went with other attorneys provided. All I can honestly say is that friends in similar situations ended up paying thousands less than what I ended up paying for a non disputed amicable divorce. I would definitely not recommend this practice.
UPDATE: I'm being threatened with legal action for leaving an honest review. Mr. Abbott says, “…you are welcome to review us, but I also have the right to defend myself against incorrect or slanderous statements, and I can respond in kind, so I’m not sure what you think you want to accomplish by this… I am sorry you are taking this tact, but understand I will not tolerate any false or incorrect statements and I will litigate over them, as I have in the past and won.”
So do keep in mind that for every positive review you see, how many negative reviews have been wiped from the internet due to threats and legal action?
I wrote a review in February about my experience with Abbott & Abbott. They hired an attorney that threaten me and told me to remove my review. I'd recommend checking all review sites and speaking with several people before hiring an attorney (any attorney). SOME attorneys drag cases out for selfish reasons and don't consider the families. I believe Abbott & Abbott are terrible attorneys that care more about money than their own clients. Legal background checks to look into attorneys may also be a good idea, you can find if an attorney you are interested in has liens for outstanding taxes, or any other type of issues. Do your research and find someone honest.
I highly recommend this firm!
Thank You B.J. & Parri and of course your staff.
