My husband and I used The Dodds Law Firm for bankruptcy services. We worked with Shannon and she was fantastic! We were completely stressed out and confused about our financial future. We read so many horror stories online and were extremely nervous to even make an appointment to come in and talk to someone. Shannon was so compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. She put our minds at complete ease during the initial meeting and we walked out of there with a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. The entire bankruptcy process was very simple and we had no problems at all. Shannon was available by email or phone to answer all of our questions (we had a lot) and never once was unpleasant with us. She explained the process step by step and we received our discharge within 90 days or so. We are on the path to rebuilding our credit now and couldn't thank her enough. Thank you Dodds Law Firm and Shannon for being there for us through this difficult time in our lives! Do not hesitate to use this firm in the future because you will get the personal attention you deserve too!

My wife and I worked with Josh Turner of Dodds Law Firm. We were very appreciative of Josh's hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to understanding the intricacies of our situation. Josh is a true professional that puts in the time and energy to make sure that he represents his client's to the best of his ability. That was our experience with Josh and we would highly recommend him to anyone that is considering him or his company for representation. Thanks Josh!

I would not recommend this firm to man with a dead beat wife for divorce, my case should have been simple and cut and dry, it got drug out for 8 months and a lot of money, not once did Mr. Dodds ask how I thought it was going, since I got assigned a Jr lawyer with the firm, My divorce was like a country song, I lost the farm, the dog, the cattle, and truck and trailer, even though I said a couple times to just go to court and let the judge sort it out, my attorney pretty much insisted we settle out of court, and I let him talk me into it, I regret it now, but I couldn't afford to keep dragging it out, sincerely, Patrick Page

I would not recommend this law firm to anyone. I approached the law firm to correct the lack of child support I receive as a single parent. The lack of knowledge on the law allowed me to waste over $8k for a case that would not be tried and was eventually dismissed because the state does not have jurisdiction over my ex. It was then all blamed on the judge and not there possible lack of law knowledge of proper jurisdiction. After the embarrassing defeat in court I was told I would get a lawyer that would proceed with filing in a different area and he would work for free. When I told them I would rather have that money back and hire in another state the tone of my attorney changed with scare tactics and telling me it is a bad idea.
If you want to hire an attorney that will waste your precious resources these are your guys!

I scheduled a consultation with an attorney at this firm. When he found out I was not employed, his only interest was to discourage me and drive me away by being rude, abrasive, condescending and disrespectful. His only concern was how I was going to pay him and proceeded to tell me he has clients who pay him $20,000 to $30,000 a month to represent them. (As if that has any bearing on anything concerning me.) The consultation was a complete and total waste of time and money. I didn't even get my questions answered because of his rudeness and disrespect of me. I could not leave fast enough! I was not able to post this without checking one star, but truly it should be zero!
RESPONSE In response to the owners response:. I do not appreciate being called a liar. I was there. He was not. I have no doubt that when the attorney I was mistreated by was called to account he misrepresented what he said to me. I stand by everything I said. It happened. He bragged about being paid $20-30,000 a month by some clients. He told me his minimum fee was $10,000 to start and I would have to post a guarantee of payment before he would begin. I was advised by the attorney I retained not to go to this meeting. Not only was I disrespected and condescended to, much of the "advice" I was given was simply not correct. The purpose of meeting with the owner, I'm sure, was to get me to change my review. I stand firmly behind my statements. What I said in my review was just a small sampling. There was much more. Don't call me a liar. You weren't in the room!

Dr. Dodds was a pleasure to work with. His knowledge of the law is very impressive. He took the time to explain all the aspects of the law as it applied to our case. All of our options thoroughly explained. Dr. Dodds listened carefully, and worked very hard to obtain the best outcome for us. I could not be more pleased with the work he did for us. I would recommend him to anyone

I am so pleased I found these folks to represent me. At the initial consultation with Dan, I wanted to make sure they would represent me (the husband) aggressively because 1) I had reason to suspect the divorce could get ugly, and 2) I had multiple properties and retirement funds that I needed to protect. The ENTIRE team exceeded my expectations throughout the process and truly lived by their words: Trust. Dedication. Integrity. I am thoroughly impressed. Just a few examples of what Tejay and Tanya did. Every document was “clean” (there were no errors!). That tells me they pay attention and listen to the small details. They kept me abreast every step of the way (while moving through the process as aggressively as they could). In the end, the case was uncontested! How about that?! I got everything I wanted when I set out and retained this TEAM. Bart

My consultation meeting with Mr. Dodds was well worth my time and the fee. Besides being professional and calming, he took the time to review the documents I had emailed prior, as well as research specifics to my case. He was well prepared with notes and details of what needed to be the next step in my case, what items I could do myself, ultimately saving me money, and the course of events as the case moves forward. I would definitely recommend him to friends and family and will certainly obtain his services in the future, if needed. He's one of the few lawyers who shine!

I met with two attorneys at this firm. First being Dan. I can say that Dan was actually thorough in his consultation and made me feel comfortable with the situation I requested consultation.
Second, I will refrain from giving names because I always give the benefit of the doubt in regard to a complex situation, which I undoubtedly am a part of.
I am going through a interstate custody battle. My ex fled the home state and then returned to Illinois using an incompetent lawyer who at one time had been reprimanded and his license suspended due to unethical practice on his behalf.
What is unclear to me, would be the question, “why during my consult, regarding family law and registration of a foreign order, was I told that I would be unable to transfer my case?” and there was nothing the consulting attorney could do?
I was a resident of Arizona and had been for more than 6 months. The case was opened in Champaign county Illinois.
I received a letter from the Dodd law firm, stating that due to complex matters of my case, the firm could not represent my case.
Interesting enough, when I did manage to enter and register a foreign custody order, this law firm, that denied representation of my case, sent the opposing party an invite for consult?
My qualm is this.
If you as an attorney, are clearly aware of any legal bind that would make you incapable of representation, you should refrain from accepting consultation funds or just not consult in an area you’re incapable or uncomfortable to practice.
I understand more than anyone that my situation is complex and I know I am not unique in the legal situation I am involved.
Again, the firm was kind, and respectful, but I feel knowingly proceeded in consult, with awareness, the case I presented was not in their realm of practice.

I hired a different firm a few months ago to take care of the same case, and long story short I got the short end of the stick. I called dan dodds and scheduled an appointment, he had already reviewed my case, found the flaws and was quick to lay out more than one plan and option. His whole staff was very professional and friendly and the whole process was great and easy, they actually care about their client, unlike others who just heard people in and out like cattle. A ton of worry has been lifted of my shoulders, thank you Dan and your associates for your great work

I paid $50 for a consultation. The. Lawyer. Would. Not. Shut. Up. He kept telling story after story to “explain things.” He did not bother to ask what my information base already was, and he even apologised for going on and on. I even stepped out because I had been working in the yard for a few hours previous and that combined with some reasonable levels of anxiety made breathing quite difficult. He didn’t take the hint. Finally, after some two hours, I wrote down what I wanted on a sheet of blank paper and pushed it to him. I am usually extraordinarily polite. I am the sort of person who will, oh I don’t know, sit there and listen to some man prattle on for two hours. I pushed it to him and said “this is what I want. Can you help me or not?” He replied he could not save for one component. What could have taken 20-30 minutes, ended up taking two hours. I stood, gathered my paperwork, and told my husband “We’re done here.” The next day, I received a call asking for my card number again because the receptionist had not taken it down correctly. I honestly considered not throwing wasted money after wasted time. I truly did.
Addendum: I only write reviews if I think it will serve a purpose, in this case, to save others some time and grief. I stand by my original review, and I appreciate the law firm’s reply as an opportunity for improvement. What the rebuttal said was true: I did not produce that document until later in the meeting because I really had no clue what I was looking for, and I said as much. In my line of work, I would have handled a similar situation thusly: Me: So tell me about your surgery some eight years ago. Patient: Well, I work in retail and haven’t really been to the doctor much since then but I have this stack of twenty papers. I don’t understand 90% of it. Me: Would you mind if I took a look at them? I’m sure I could find the information we need because this is my profession, and I am very familiar with these things.
Unfortunately, even if I had found that paper earlier, it would have still had the same result: another 30 minute story I didn’t need to hear. I understood clearly that there was nothing that could be done, but as I said above, I had a list of five things. That was one item. There were four other items about which I got to hear extensive explanations, analogies, metaphors, stories, expounding, and pedagogy.
Tl;dr: I am not trying to be unkind. I am pointing out that when someone is anxious as indicated by the person stating they need to get some air or in probably every instance having to do with child support or custody, it would probably be better to use more concise explanations along with observations of that person’s receptivity and capacity for information. If that person appears distressed enough to the point that the narrator feels the need to apologise for his or her long-windedness, THAT is the time to employ brevity because to do otherwise completely disregards any concern for the client, and I am sure that is not what the lawyer meant to do.

Upon reviewing Happy Powers one-star review, I searched the firm's data base to obtain his contact information so that I could speak with him to address his concerns expressed in his Google review. However, the firm's data base does not reflect that Mr. Powers ever sought or received a consultation with our firm. I then took the time to speak with the attorneys employed by the firm and not one of them recalls speaking with Mr. Powers.
Notwithstanding our confusion of who Mr. Powers is, I invite Mr. Powers to contact my office and that he request to speak directly with me--Dan Dodds. If it is determined that Mr. Power did, in fact, speak with one of my attorneys, I will gladly provide him with a courtesy consultation with me at no cost to him.
Historically, the vast majority of the firm's clients report they were and remain pleased with the legal services the firm provided to them. Nonetheless, if Mr. Powers is displeased with one of my staff members, I would appreciate him extending me the courtesy to allow me to see if I can correct his opinion of our firm.

MEN / GUYS OF ARIZONA!!! LISTEN UP!!!!! I am a single 38 year old father who has had major problems getting any rights to my kids because mom has had Sole Legal custody for many years now. She would not be fair about anything when it came to me spending time with my 2 boys so therefore I had to find a law firm that I felt I could trust and a law firm who I felt would not just be out to get my money but to be there for me and my kids. Someone to protect our rights and believe me I am so glad I had found THE DODDS LAW FIRM. My battle with my ex has been going on for over 4 years now. I have been in and out of court over 16 times now battling my ex with different lawyers, tons of money lost and lots of heart break!!! Nothing was getting done in my favor in the past with my other lawyers so I thought for sure the Arizona court systems were just geared for moms only until I found Dr. Dan Dodds. He and his professional legal team went above and beyond to make me and my two boys feel like family members of their own. Today 2/26/2015 was my court date and Mr. Dodds got me everything that I had asked for without having to take it to trial and make it to where I had to spend more money than was necessary unlike other counsel I have had in the past. Over all I am exhilarated and overwhelmed at the outcome Dan produced for me and my kids and I am at a loss for words to say just how grateful I really am. If you decide to hire this firm you will not be disappointed. Guaranteed! Forever grateful…..Eric M.
