I hired Mr Gerber in 2018 to provide information regarding my divorce case. I have a personal check Mr Gerber cashed for Services rendered (see picture).

For the last three years attorney Donald Gerber has unprofessionally worked my divorce. It is a fact that Donald Gerber is very dishonest and incompetent. He is not ethical. He is constantly late and has omitted information from my case. He has been dishonest to the Court regarding my divorce. He has been reprimanded and ordered by the Court to stop such dishonest actions. Please see case file and transcripts. He has deliberately delayed the resolution of the divorce wasting everyone's time and money. *** I do not recommend Donald Gerber to anyone. I received threatening emails from Mr Gerber regarding my honest review. Mr Gerber stated “Either you withdraw the review by the end of business on 6/5/18 and provide me a written apology or I will seek a restraining order; a defamation lawsuit; or both.” I do not appreciate these threats by Mr Gerber.

Mr Gerber personally attacked me after my review. This is what he has done for the last three years. It is what I was referring to in my review. Why would an ethical business threaten lawsuits and post deceitful replies like this on Yelp & Google? No rulings were made against me nor was I admonished by the court. This is fake information by Mr Gerber. I am not the only reviewer that believes that Mr Gerber acts “inappropriate”, “unprofessional”, “dysfunctional”, “not ethical”, and “incompetent”. These are all actual words used in his other reviewers. It is exactly what I have had to deal with which has directly hurt me and my daughter. As the primary caretaker of my daughter, I find these actions to be reprehensible.

Mr Gerber and was dishonest once again and was reprimanded and ordered by the Court to stop such actions on 05-31-18 and again on 11-29-18. Also, please see attached picture, proof of cashed check for services I paid Mr Gerber.

I am mainly writing this review in response to Chris R.'s negative review, as I am his ex and would like to point out that, as everyone knows, there are two sides to every story, especially in a divorce case. Of course everyone can have their own opinion, but to review someone who is not your own lawyer is definitely suspect and open to judgment. If anything, Mr. Gerber has done everything possible to get our divorce finalized, in order to avoid trials and added costs. He is not the one deliberately delaying our divorce, far from it. He has been practicing law in our area for decades, makes it a point to familiarize himself with how judges tend to rule (as any good lawyer should), and has provided me with sound legal advice throughout this divorce. He is not one of those lawyers who will simply take your money and allow you to pursue a personal vendetta, so if you are looking for that kind of lawyer, keep looking. As other reviewers have already said, he is fair, reasonable, ethical, responsive, cares about his clients, and tough when warranted. I would also like to note that if you have to keep stating in your review that it's "honest", then maybe there's a reason for that. Also, just take a look at my ex's other reviews and you will get a sense of what kind of person he is. And finally, I have a copy of the court transcript from our hearing, so I do have proof of him being admonished. He just chooses to believe otherwise to support his story. It's sad how divorce can drive people to do things you never expected them to do and refuse to take any responsibility for.

This is the worst mistake I have ever made in my entire life. This man is the absolute worst when it came to advocating for my girls best interest. If I could post all the horrifying mistakes he made for my case I would. I lost money and I lost valuable time in dealing with this attorney.

When I replaced this attorney I realized his limited knowledge and his lack of ability to truly represent my case in court. My fabulous new attorney didn't understand many of the things that were done by Donald Gerber.

Please if you are considering him to represent you please please please BEWARE of what you are getting yourself into. I was a single mother of 2 beautiful girls. It was tough enough to make ends meet as it was. This attorney wasted my hard earned money and time.

There are many attorneys out there be sure to get one that is worth spending your money on because this one is not.

He is a great lawyer overall. He's smart and knows what he is doing. Maybe a little Oddish.. secretary is wonderful as well...

Gerber office staff did not file court papers timely. Always late or omitted them entirely. Gerber came to court disheveled & unshaven. His Secretary has a strange strangle hold on this guy's law practice. She'll do the bare minimum while telling you how a~m~a~z~i~n~g she is. It's a disaster for your case! Gerber went to court 3 times and lost BADLY each time. Didn't make good arguments. Used the excuse that he was caring for his wife -who had a head injury - as a reason he wasn't prepared for court. The Judge admonished him about yelling, talking out of turn, not filing timely, not paying filing fees, and a several other "procedural problems" he created by not doing his job properly. I can provide PROOF of everything I'm stating here - it's all in the transcripts. Gerber should not be practicing law anymore and should retire now. His biggest interest seems to be buying more ugly art for his office - not the practice of Law. I paid him $3,900 to lose a lot of ground. Went In Pro Per and resolved it in less than 2 months. Gerber said it'd take him 2 years & wanted more money. I am going to file a complaint with the CA BAR against him - it's THAT bad. Getting a divorce is stressful enough as it is.... no one deserves additional abuse from these people adding to it. This guy is incompetent & his two office assistants (a mother & daughter team) are the most dysfunctional, lazy individuals I have ever encountered in a professional setting. I could forward emails that would just BLOW your mind. Unprofessional doesn't even cover it. I wish there had been someone who was willing to review this guy honestly before I hired him. I did an Internet check and also checked with the CA BAR Association BEFORE I retained him. There was nothing there. I made a HUGE mistake. You don't have to.
