Terrible! Steve was unprepared for my hearing, he had no knowledge about my case in the courtroom and lost me time with my kids, made me look like an idiot in front of the judge because he didn't know why we were there or what I wanted. He failed to represent my side and charged for things that were not even needed! DO NOT HIRE HIM!!!

Lost legal custody. Did not communicate well and when at the end when ex flipped and decided to not sign agreementioned was unprepared for court. Very disappointed.

I have been working with Steve for about 8 years now. He has helped me through a bad divorce and custody battle. The battle did not just end it continued over the years. 3 years ago I had to take emergency action and who was right there by my side helping me it was Steve Cole. He went to court with me helped me get all my orders. To this day he is still helping me. I now I have Perm SOLE custody of my child. I could not have done this without him and his office. I used Steven Cole for a custody case and was very disappointed in the lack of follow through on his part. In the consultation he promised to be aggressive and hit the points I wanted to be adressed about the other parents drug use and mental stability. During a deposition and throughout the court proceedings he seemed to have forgotten everything we talked about. He wasted time running around in circles over things that were not important or relevant and totally skimmed over everything he promised to fight for. I thought I was hiring a pit bull but in the court room he was a chihuahua! Thousands of dollars down the drain, save your money and represent yourself!!

I hired Steve's office to handle a visitation and child support matter. What I liked about him is that gave me as many options as possible to avoid hiring an attorney and spending the money. He also didn't charge for me to meet with him and go through my case. After going through my options, I decided to hire him. His staff was very professional, and they were always quick to answer my e-mails. When we went to court Mr. Cole was always prepared and ready. The case went on longer than I wanted it to because my ex kept fighting over little things. It ended up costing a little more than I wanted to spend, but I guess you get what you pay for. In the end, the result I got was pretty good. After the case was over, I had a lot of questions that came up over the next several months. Whenever I would e-mail Steve, he would typically respond within a day or two, and he didn't charge me for these follow up questions. This saved me a lot of money, and it made me feel like I had someone in my corner protecting me. If I have to deal with issues like this again, I will go back to Mr. Cole. I trust his advice and I know he will fight for me.

When I first went into his office with my son he helped us out by talking to us for nearly an hour. He helped my son understand some of what he would be going through and facing during the next several months. I thought he was very helpful and he insisted on not charging us. We went back to him and hired him to do my son's divorce. He and his assistant Vicky were very helpful throughout the process. His assistant Jo was usually available to answer questions whenever they came up. This was a really emotional time for all of us, and Mr. Cole's office was always there to answer our questions. If we had questions on the weekend, we could always email him and we would usually get a response the same day. Ultimately, Steve got my son shared time with his kids through the courts. He also helped all of us to keep our sanity during this very difficult time. I can't say enough about how he really cared for my son.

I hired Steve Cole to handle my divorce about 2 months ago and fired him last week. In my extensive experience dealing with business legal issues, he is the worst professional I have ever encountered. He does not return communications in a timely manner, he shows up late for meetings – like 45 minutes – and then blames his staff, and when he does show up, he is not prepared and is obviously trying to wing it. He will take days to respond to emails, and then the response will be incomplete, nonsensical, and/or off topic. His whole philosophical thrust seems to be that everything needs to be delayed, which, in my case, was exactly what the other side wanted. Do yourself a favor and avoid this attorney at all costs – maybe you’ll get lucky and your opposition will hire him.

I would discourage anybody from hiring Steven Cole to represent them in a divorce case. His rates may be lower than a lot of lawyers in Phoenix but don't let this be the deciding factor. Cheap rates equals cheap service. In summary Steven Cole is disorganized, lacks compassion, and is an extremely poor communicator. For a solo practice he uses his paralegal way too much for direct client communication. I spent a lot of wasted time trying to figure out what was actually going on with my case. Only 30% of my direct emails to his Hotmail account were ever answered back with a reply. He never actually speaks to you on the phone either. There were a lot of charges that were billed for conversations between he and his paralegal. His plan of attack or defense was never clear to me and it seemed to change frequently. He joked around with opposing counsel in court which I thought was very unprofessional. Save yourself a lot of potential frustration and look elsewhere. Not all lawyers are created equal and this one is definitely on the lower end of the quality scale in my opinion.

I went to Steven N. Cole with my Divorce Case. Mr. Cole did a great job helping me out with everything I had asked for! He is a very kind and understanding man. And of course knows what he's doing. Im glad I had him to represent me! I recommend him for those looking for a good lawyer.
