First off I have to say we knew nothing about bankruptcy, this company didn't tell us much but we ultimately filed for chapter 13. During the course of the filing we were told many things that turned out to not be true. One of them being that moving while in an active bankruptcy would be no problem. They told us that many of their clients move with no issues at all. That was about a year and a half ago...fast forward to now, we are in a house in which the owner wants to sell and we have to move. We can't get in anywhere, no apartment will even take our application because of the bankruptcy. We can't find a house or an apartment, we have to be out by April. I wish they would have been up front with us so we could have made a decision based on all the information.

My experience was bad. I set up payment arrangements and in total the law firm received $1060 out of a $2000+ total due before filing can be initiated. I was later informed that I can not file if I owe back taxes. I explained that I would need to then cancel my auto deductions and receive a refund to pay for the initial filing of my taxes then I can start all over with my bankruptcy. I spoke with Robert from the law firm and he advised me that I will be getting billed for their office services and he wasn't sure what that would look like. The firm deducted $750. If they say, "there are no up front initial charges", don't believe that because if you leave their firm they will take more than 50% of what you've initially paid to them.

Be sure to read the fine print, if you cancel the bankruptcy, they will take more than half or all the funds you may have paid toward the bankruptcy case.

Seemed very friendly untill I couldn't get ex wife to sign contract. I had a massive heart attack and several VA surgeries later ( life expectancy not good) I asked for a refund and was told I should get paperwork within a week listing deductions. Not sure I understand deductions if All persons involved do not sign a contract? We shall see, at least they are talking it over. Will keep updated

So it's a week and no word... Getting hungry here since VA kept my check to pay for medications. Can't catch a break.

We are an elderly couple who in our wildest dreams, would never though we would have to file chapter 7. Before reaching out to this group we tried everything to get ahead, even as far as joining a debt relief company. Our experience with the debt company it only added more hardship to the point ! as parents , should never have ti ask their children for help. We had reverse mortgage and could borrow no more in equity to help us with back taxes and just everyday living expenses. My husband and I have worked all our lives, never accepted government nor applied for assistance. Raised two children paid for college and was able to help them buy their first cars. When the stock market crashed we lost all our retirement and were no longer able to make ends meet. When we could no longer able to make make the extremely high payment to the debt relief company, we knew we had ti do something. I had watched many commercials about the Oswalt law group so I made that call, and so glad that I did . The Peoria office walked us through everything we needed to do. Now if you think that they do everything , you also need to do your part. They don’t have all your records and they don’t know your history only you do. They are however there to answer any questions in a reasonable timeframe, by email or phone! I followed everything they sent me and took it one step further by dividing everything in sections and tabbing everything off , not only for their benefit but mine as well and made two copies of everything if it was needed. I cannot tell you how much we had in support as well as in court. I would highly recommend this Law group based on how professional and experienced and friendly they all are, Just remember take the time to do your part also, if you do then its as easy and not stressful that you might think. The owner is very nice and kind. I started the process of my chapter 7 but decided to go a cheaper route through a family friend and that's when I had problems. The staff werent so friendly once I wanted to cancel and they billed me for every little thing. I lost about 1/3rd of what I paid to them just to cancel. They charged me for the consultation which I thought was free. Apparently it's only free "when you're a client" so not giving them money makes you not worth the time. I understand billing me for opening my case and any time spoken on the phone but I didnt get nearly enough for what I paid for. I would recommend this office if you plan to stay a client but expect your wallet to become alot thinner.
