Totally unprofessional. Mr. Creed set an appointment to consult me 2 days in advance and left me with no call. I called his office and nobody knew about the appointment. I could have been dealing with my case.

Last September I twisted my knee while doing some landscaping at home. My knee was completely swollen and discolored, so I headed to my doctor, who told me that my knee twist had likely caused bursitis. Thinking that the swelling would go down naturally, I went back home, and in a week I got back to my gardening. My knee twisted again, and this time fully dislocated. After getting a second opinion, I learned that bursitis had been a poor diagnosis, and that my kneecap had actually subluxed. Had I known this the first time, I would never have gotten back to physical labor so quickly and unnecessarily. I didn’t feel it was right that I would have to pay for medical bills I had incurred as a result of a misdiagnosis. After a few months, I contacted JGL to discuss my legal options, and my only regret was that I did not do so sooner. The JGL team is kind and compassionate and I felt like they were paying special attention to me as an individual rather than just as a client. Before, I never honestly thought I’d be able to get any reimbursement from hospitals or my former doctor, but JGL has given me confidence and peace of mind to know that I’m not alone and that I have avenues to contest my poor treatment. Would definitely recommend to anyone going through similar medical concerns.
It was excellent working with the firm's employment group. They went above and beyond my expectations and saved my career. I'd recommend them to anyone!

Going into estate planning was overwhelming. I talked to a few different legal groups before going to JGL, and I have to admit I was lost. Other lawyers I talked to knew what they were talking about, but were not interested in explaining it to me, so I felt left out of the loop of my own estate. Fortunately, my experience at JGL was the complete obvious. They’re patient, confident, and give you the feeling that they actually care about you as a person more than just a client. I’m more comfortable and confident in my estate now than I ever have been before, and I plan on continuing my relationship with JGL. Highly recommended group.

My business’s experience with Joseph Greenwald and Laake was great. At the beginning of the year, we were trying to adjust to the new Maryland Healthy Working Act. As a mid-sized business with more than 15 employees, we knew we’d have to make some changes to comply with the new regulations, but we weren’t sure how to go about making those changes. Joseph Greenwald and Laake used their company’s full resources to help us out, and my employees are very satisfied. Now we know exactly where we stand in reference to the new law and are able to effectively communicate the new workplace policies to our employees. We would definitely suggest this group to a business looking for legal guidance.

These lawyers are savvy. They make it their business to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to protecting the civil rights of others. I've had several positive experiences and can tell you they are responsive problem solvers.

Update- About a week after I posted my original review I got a call from "Vijay" who is one of the company's lawyers. We talked on the phone for maybe 30ish minutes. There was a connection error and our call disconnected. I immediately called back the office twice within 10 minutes in between calls, only to be transferred to his voicemail. I left 2 messages (one each time) and he NEVER called me back. I called his direct extension myself one time, and he would not answer that either. Some nerve. Again, completely unprofessional.
Original- This business doesn't even deserve 1 star. Their receptionist is beyond rude and will transfer your call while you're still speaking just to punt you along. Every time I call and do get transferred, the extension I'm sent to is never at their phone and I would have to leave a message. Sounds like no big deal, except no one will ever return your call. After 3 days of trying to get a hold of someone I gave up. This place is beyond unprofessional, the staff is rude, and frankly it seems like they could care less about you.
I do NOT recommend. Take your business and money elsewhere.

I just wanted to say thanks to my lawyer because she helped me with my therapy, medical treatment, and she respected my rights as a person. Ever since I met with her she has been really nice, understanding, and helpful and would really recommend her to anyone.

Brian guided me through a long legal process with intelligence, humor and kindness. He always returned my calls promptly - day or night. He always made sure that I understood every part of the process. Brian was optimistic when I was discouraged. He was patient no matter how many questions I had. I would recommend Brian to anyone that needs brilliant legal help. He understands how to effectively communicate about legal details. He thoroughly prepared me for deposition and trial. Years after our successful settlement when I needed legal help again, I called Brian for a referral and he helped me with that. My wife and I consider Brian to be our friend. We are happy to follow his career accomplishments.

Debora Fajer-Smith led me through the very complicated workers comp process. At every step of the way, Deborah reassured me and provided exceptional counsel. When I was ready to give up, she motivated me to fight on. The end result was spectacular. I never could have done it without Deborah and JGL. Simply the best!!!

My worker's compensation case seemed to drag on for so long and I began to feel as if things would not work out well. Mrs. Debora Fajer-Smith assured me to not give up and she would do everything to make sure that my case mattered and I would be a winner. Well she did everything she said she would and I am very grateful to her and everyone that works in her office.

A number of years ago I was referred to Brian Markovitz at Joseph Greenwald and Laake. We had an exploratory discussion about my case and after several more discussions I entered into an agreement with his firm. The case spanned the next several years and every step of the way I felt like I always got the straight honest answers about my case. My calls were always returned and I always felt Brian and his firm had my back. The support Brian and his firm provided was amazing. I never felt alone or not informed of the latest developments. I can highly recommend Brian and his firm for any of your legal needs. He's not only a highly accomplished and skilled lawyer, i consider him also a fiend to this day who I can call upon if I need legal advice.

I am writing this review for Darin Rumer from the perspective of the opponent's side, as Mr. Rumer was my ex-spouse's atty. I rate Mr. Rumer 5 stars from my perspective because if your ex-spouse has retained Mr. Rumer, you should be jumping for joy, as you are guaranteed to win your case, and be thoroughly entertained in the process.
Mr. Rumer is an entertaining individual, and his conduct in court is nothing short of spectacular from an entertainment perspective (but considerably awful from a legal perspective). Mr. Rumer brings out all of the Broadway theatrics in court, ranging from exaggerated mannerisms, screaming and yelling at the witnesses (and even the Judge!), objecting every three seconds (and being overruled), emphatically slapping stacks of documents on the table, talking about genitals, and ultimately losing at every hearing, even ones that a competent attorney should win every time. I had the luxury of seeing Mr. Rumer perform and be embarrassed at multiple different hearings during my divorce, but unfortunately due to the flood wiping out my ex-spouses Ellicott City business and income potential, I was forced to settled prior to the final hearing. I had been looking forward to a 4-day spectacle, if it wasn't for that flood.
The icing on the cake came at a hearing 6 months after my divorce was finalized. Due to Mr. Rumer's malpractice, his client was forced to pay sanctions to me to the tune of $5,000 for discovery violations. In exchange for his client not suing Mr. Rumer for malpractice, Mr. Rumer offered to appeal the sanctions ruling on a pro bono basis multiple times, in which he kept losing motion after motion, asking the court to vacate and reconsider the $5,000 sanctions ruling. The final attempt to appeal this ruling was by way of a three judge-panel in banc review. As this hearing was scheduled 6 months after my divorce was over, and I no longer had the capacity to incur additional attorney fees, I represented myself pro se, and won easily, not because of anything I did, but because of Mr. Rumer's sheer foolishness and incompetence. I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Rumer squirm while three judges gave him a tongue lashing for wasting their time with utter nonsense, while Mr. Rumer stood that alleging that the trial judge abused his discretion. At one point, Mr. Rumer threw up a Hail Mary trying to provoke sympathy, and said that his client (mind you, who is the mother of my children) had cancer. which was a 100% complete lie. Even I was shocked that Mr. Rumer would stoop to this level of deceit in a futile attempt to win a hearing.
At one point, Mr. Rumer gave his client the horrible legal advice to break in to my home to retrieve items that were no longer hers. Of course, this horrible advice landed his client in jail, and his client was forced to pay me $10,000 in restitution.
Bottom line, while Mr. Rumer is very entertaining, he is not a competent legal professional as evidenced by the terrible advice he gave his client, and the fact that he routinely loses so handedly in court, even to much younger attorneys with decades less experience, and to myself, a pro se, non-attorney.
At no point did Mr. Rumer make any effort to understand the actual relevant aspects of the property division numbers presented on form 9-207, which, at the end of the day, is the only thing that matters for dividing property. Instead, he spent an exorbitant amount of time focused on non-relevant matters, bald-face lies and accusations about my character which were designed to inflame the situation rather than reach a settlement as to how property is to be divided.
At the end of the day, he charged his client over $200,000 and she ended up with less custody than she had at the beginning of the case, was awarded no alimony when she sought $4000/m, and received less than nothing in terms of property and money division after paying his fee. If you consider those to be positive results, then you will be extremely pleased with Mr. Rumer's services.
