I was disappointed in my experience with Palmer Staffing. I was called after I applied for an open position on Indeed, and set up an in-person interview with Stephanie.

When I arrived, I was impressed with the professionalism I was treated with. In fact, it took an unexpected emotional turn when Stephanie revealed that she too had recently lost a close family member. I had been unemployed for months, partially stemming from a devastating personal loss that I had gone through the previous year. I took comfort in Stephanie being so relatable, and felt good about what I perceived as strong empathy for my particular case. She promised to explain my situation to the employer and push my application to get me a position.

A few days went by and I did not hear anything. I called back and was told to call the following week if I did not receive a phone call before then. I called back on the day I was instructed to: left a message, and never received a phone call back. Instead, I received an email informing me that there were no updates. Soon after, I received an email from Stephanie that the company had hired someone internally. I realize this may have been outside of Palmer’s control, but I was completely disillusioned by the initial urgency of my first meeting with Stephanie and further angered by her use of something so personal and what felt like a failure to live up to what she had promised. The timeline was nothing like what she had told me in the interview. I was told I could expect an in-person interview with the company in days. Instead, the next week consisted of me calling and emailing Palmer to follow up. Nearly all of the emails I did receive were hastily written and short, completely dissimilar to the promise I had felt after going in to interview with Stephanie.

Once it was clear I was not going to have a chance to interview with the company that Stephanie had spoken so highly of, I asked that I please be considered for other positions. Though I received a reply promising this, I didn’t hear anything in the following weeks about a single other position.

About two weeks later, I heard from Stephanie informing me the company had not hired the internal candidate and wanted to interview me. Well, it was too little too late as I had gone and found a job on my own. It still astounds me that someone could come across as so genuine in an interview, relate on a matter that was almost too personal, and then not follow up with any sense of urgency afterward. I felt as though I had been fooled - I’m just glad I was able to find a job by myself. Waiting around for Palmer was not going to get me results. I do not blame them for not being able to get me the position. I do, however, take issue with a staffing associate using my personal history of loss as a selling point to assure me I would receive fair treatment - especially since this was not at all lived up to. I wish the bar had not been set so high at the interview by touching on extremely personal matters. I may not have been so disappointed with the results had my expectations been set lower.

<< Update >> RE: response from Palmer below. Notice how they refute the facts I’ve stated but do not address the larger picture of why I was dissatisfied. I repeatedly had to reach out to them in the week after I interviewed - not once did the agency initiate any correspondence - and I received NO help in finding a position after the one I interviewed for fell through. A good business does not challenge the facts of a review while failing to acknowledge that their actions left someone feeling totally disappointed. Even through email regarding this review, the business owner did not begin with any sort of apology to me: I feel the only motive in Palmer posting here and reaching out to me was to save face and get me to change my review. This kind of behavior confirms my low rating and I 100% stand by it.

A friend of mine was considering a career change two years ago, so I suggested they reach out to Palmer Staffing because the company I work for uses this agency occasionally to find candidates for Support Staff. We've had some real hit and miss candidates overall but I figured that my friend would have some luck considering the amount of companies this agency works with.

When my friend sent in his resume, someone I guess meant to forward his resume to another person internally but instead accidentally replied to my friend essentially making fun of his Bachelors and Masters degree. I guess this person realized they sent their rude comments to the wrong person and tried to correct it by saying "sorry wrong person" but there was no real apology or consideration towards the person they just insulted lol. It was completely unprofessional and ridiculous. The person who did respond barely had a degree themselves yet here they were making fun of someone who excelled in academia and writing!!

I actually had my friend forward me the email and I gave it to our hiring team here at the place I work just to show them how unprofessional Palmer Staffing was. My colleagues will not be reaching out to Palmer Staffing to find candidates and I certainly would not recommend anyone contact them if you're searching for a job.

I'd tried a few different staffing agencies before Palmer Staffing and they were all alright at best. In comparison Palmer blew them right out of the water with their dedicated staff and myriad of relevant opportunities for those interested in politics/research/law fields. From the moment I walked in the door, Hasmik Martirosyan, helped me discern my interests and provided me with relevant opportunities for me to succeed. She helped me through interview processes and communicating with the organization I temped for.

Poor experience. It took 4 attempts to only schedule our introductory call and I literally haven’t heard anything from them since that call. It’s been over two plus months since I heard anything from their staff. Talk about disappointing ...

I recently started a new position that I am very satisfied with thanks to help from Palmer Staffing Services. The recruited I worked with was extremely responsive and provided me with tools to succeed at my interviews and follow-up. It was especially helpful to work with Palmer in regards to salary negotiation as well. I am very happy with the outcome.

Very nice staff. Unfortunately, after three months the emails became annoying, especially since I would be interested in a role and not receive any follow up. I also didn’t appreciate that my references were contacted prior to having a role lined up for me. A few other things I didn’t enjoy regarding my experience with Palmer, but I will not mention it. Not much success here at all. I therefore decided to branch off on my own. Still, most of the staffs are extremely nice. Personally, I needed more than nice. I needed results!

Update: Really appreciated the follow up from Peter addressing any concerns I may have had, and also explained the agency’s procedures when placing individuals on assignments (which is relatively similar to other agencies, however the follow up is greatly appreciated). I worked with Beverly, who was an absolute pleasure! I arrived in DC on Monday, met with her at the Palmer Office on Tuesday, Interviewed for a job Wednesday, and was hired Thursday! It was a great experience working with a recruiting agency who actually cares about you and your career goals. If anyone ever tells me they have difficulty finding a job I would 100% refer them to Palmer Staffing Services.

These ladies were absolutely instrumental in finding my first full-time position, only a month and a half after graduating from college. The agency was incredibly helpful in finding a job placement for me. I graduated in May and despite having a decent resumé, I was having some trouble finding a place with the right fit. I spent a couple months trying to find a job on my own, and when I finally reached out to the agency they were able to find me a job within days. No, seriously -- I sent Palmer my resumé on a weekend, they responded by Monday, set a meeting with me by Tuesday, sent me out on interviews Wednesday through Friday, then sent my offer letter Friday afternoon! As a first-generation college student/graduate with few ways to get my foot in the door in Washington, this agency was the move.

I graduated from college this past May 2019, and began my job search in March. I went on several interviews that had many rounds but ultimately not much happened. By far the best staffing agency in DC. There are many things that set them apart from the rest, not least of which is the fact that they are incredibly responsive and will always keep you informed of the progress in your job search. Not only are they courteous and professional, they also have an amazing knack for identifying your strengths and interests and quickly finding a great fit for your situation. You won't spend a long time waiting to earn a paycheck.

As I was preparing to graduate college, I was nervous about finding a job. Sometimes college grads take months to find a good job after graduating. After Palmer looked at my resume they matched me up with a job that best fit my experience and skill set. Applied for a job with Palmer and their staff had me placed at a position with in a week that was better than the one I applied for. I was hired fulltime with the company with in two months. Just like looking for a job you have to constantly email and make sure you follow up. Staffing Agencies are very full, but when job searching you have to treat it like a Full time job in itself. Be PROACTIVE if you want to succeed.

Palmer staffing had me interview with a company twice and then the company asked me to come in and work for a day and they offered me a position. I quit my job to take this new position and the next week Palmer called me telling me they offered the position to someone else that Palmer sent after I quit my job and that I could go to this position in a temporary capacity only. They knew all along that the position I was taking would not be permanent and screwed me royally. I would never use this agency EVER. They play games with people lives just to make a buck. Beverly Segal and Carol Palmer are the people who I worked with and I will never recommend anyone to this company.

I went in for an interview/testing to see if they could place me with any of their clients, and literally, within a week they placed me as a direct hire for one of the premier law firms in the District! They are extremely diligent and helpful, making sure to get a job that matches your skills and will give you really great advice on what to expect for each interviewing stage.
