We had a short deadline to get my friend moved from a rehab facility into a nursing home because of insurance. The nursing home insisted on guardianship which is a lengthy and costly process. I contacted Ken Herring at KC Elder Law. He offered an alternative to guardianship -- a Power of Attorney along with an affidavit from a psychologist who specializes in cognitive ability of the elderly. This was acceptable to the nursing home. Ken then expedited getting all of the paperwork completed. KC Elder Law provided exactly the assistance we needed.

Having a parent that stresses about his privacy, the people we worked with in this firm made my dad feel at ease! They made such a hard transition seem a little easier knowing they were taking care of things that we could have never done on our own! Now my dad can rest knowing that he doesn't have to be broke for my mom to be taken care of! Thanks to Ken, Amber and Dan!! You all are awesome!!

This group, and Mr. Hammons in particular, have now helped three generations of my family. Every time we have been met with exceptional kindness, generosity, and courtesy as well as efficiency and competence. Their impact on our morale and finances have been incredibly beneficial and saved us a great deal of stress.
KC Elder Law has helped me out over the past 10 years with Medicare and Medicaid filings, updating wills, power of attorney's, and estate planning. I'd not trust anyone else to do all that they have done, and done in a timely, professional and accurate manner.

Walking with your parents or other loved ones as they deal with growing old and/or dementia is a rough road filled with many pitfalls that most of us just don't have any experience with. Ken Herring was such a helpful resource--he was to the point, factual, patient with our endless questions, and a great source of knowledge about what we might be facing. We would HEARTILY recommend KC Elder Law!. They were excellent about informing us of what needed to be done--Ken put together air-tight documents that made transactions easier and gave us peace of mind that we were doing things correctly and legally. They're a great source of information about the challenges you face and how best to protect your loved ones' assets (and your own). We can't recommend them highly enough--as difficult as our journey was, Ken & his team eased the path for us. They were always responsive to our needs or questions, they deftly laid out all the options we had, and their fees were very reasonable. It's been great having them in our corner!

I highly recommend KC Elder Law for anyone who is needing to navigate through the Medicaid process. They are professional, knowledgeable and truly care for the people they represent. I referred my grandmother to their firm and she was very pleased with how responsive and attentive Bill Hammond was to her needs. I've also worked with Amber Thailing and Dan Flack and appreciate their expertise.

My parents and I recently hired KC Elder Law to help us establish DPOA and apply for Medicaid to assist my parents in their elderly years. The attorneys at KC Elder Law were a pleasure to work with. Amber Thailing helped us with the DPOA and Dan Flack with the Medicaid part. Both were friendly, courteous and professional in all their dealings with us. They have been very patient with my many questions and were always ready and willing to take a phone call or respond in an email quickly and knowledgeably. I highly recommend them!

Dan and Ken at KC Elder Law are professional and caring. My family appreciates the many calls and thorough explanation of all of the steps needed to transition from writing a will, to the specifics for medical state needs with a nursing home, to funeral proceeding guidance. We highly recommend KC Elder Law and want to recognize Dan and Ken for their care, support, and attention to detail through these difficult stages of life. I am grateful for the business relationship with this company and looking forward to the future knowing there are no worrying concerns left outstanding. We sincerely appreciate their caring dedication and support.

KC Elder Law helped me tremendously with my Husband's Medicaid application. After he suffered a catastrophic stroke I could no longer care for him at home because it required a 2 person hoyer lift to move him. I was devastated and KC Elder Law came to my rescue. I can't thank them enough.

Several years ago, when my wonderful wife of over 50 years, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and advised by many professionals that there was no cure. I was to face a day when she would have to go somewhere where she could be cared for and kept safe. I wanted her to get the best we could afford so I and my daughter went to see several lawyers. After spending less then 30 minutes with each we visited, we both knew that they were more interested in their welfare than my wifes. I was told to call Eldercare by a friend that had the same experience. We got an appointment with Eldercare attorney Ken Herring to meet at one of his offices in Kearney Mo.,close to me. Because of my wife still having understanding of what might have to be done to help her, consented to follow through with was recommended. (many years back we talked frequently about one of us dieing and leaving the other in comfortable, actually I was most sure to go first) We followed the advice and did what was clearly explained. I was able to secure my bride in a place that specialized In Alz where she stayed for several months until her death. If I had not followed the advice of Mr. Ken Herring and his coordinator, Lori Sanders, through all the paper work, I promise.... nothing good could have happened. Every time i am faced by someone that is looking for answers as I was, I will give them the name of ELDERCARE.

My father received an email advertisement from William Hammond and asked me to call. I called and made an appointment, we were able to speak with an attorney within a few days of calling. The staff there is wonderful, very professional.
At our meeting Mr. Hammond was able to earn my fathers trust, something no one else had been able to do. Dad paid $2500.00 up front for a package of services, and we were to come back in a few weeks to sign all the paperwork and have it filed with the court.
My father passed away before the meeting took place. Mr. Hammond had been on vacation in Europe and NO paperwork was done when we got back together. I asked for a partial refund and he declined to give back any portion of the money. So my dad just gave him $2500.00 for nothing. He made an off the cuff statement about charging $800 an hour for his services!! REALLY??!? New York attorneys don’t even charge that much for something like this I think his decision was wrong. I would not recommend him to anyone. This may not be a typical situation but I think it speaks to his character.

We had a great experience with Bill Hammond. I was referred to Bill's firm to assist my in-law's with a sudden event where my father-in-law is requiring costly long term care. We didn't want his illness to wipe out all of my in-laws savings, so we turned to Bill and his firm to help guide us down the correct path. After meeting with Bill, he came back to us with recommendations on how to proceed. It turns out that the best route for us to take did not require his firm's services. Bill was very honest about this. He could have easily had his staff assist us for a fee, but instead provided direction, and sent us on our way without charging a thing. In this day and age, this was very refreshing. I highly recommend Bill and his firm for any elder-law issues and guidance.

After more than 40 years in his own home, my father moved to an assisted living center after an illness late last summer. It has taken months to work out all of the details involved in selling his home, updating his bank accounts, and most importantly, helping him regain his health. A major bright light in our journey has been Bill Hammond. Although my father had his legal affairs in order, his arrangements had been made prior to my mother's passing. Bill was instrumental in reviewing where we were, advising us as to what needed to be updated, and working with both my father and me to finalize the details. He is compassionate and kind. We are so appreciative.

Thank you to Bill Hammond and KC Elder Law. My father passed away this past May of 2015 and my Mom has moderate dementia with definite signs of progression. Mr. Hammond updated my parent's current will, formed a trust to protect my Mother's assets which enables us to care for her properly with the peace of mind that there will be enough to sustain her for her lifetime. My brother, sister and I all thought we were really taken care of and a huge weight was lifted. Thank you to everyone at this firm because they were all so kind to us during a very emotional and difficult time. Kevin Underwood
