A few months ago, I was falsely accused by my Condominium Association of violating some rules of the common areas of my Condominium building. I was very concerned about the false allegations made against me, so I started a search for a good lawyer and came across one of the best lawyers in town, Mr. Tom Silis.

I have been in a never ending court battle with my abusive ex over custody and visitation of my daughter. We had been in a Kansas court for years; and the judge and courts were very familiar with my ex's tactics. So he jumped at the chance to go around the Judge and have it moved here after we had to relocate because of the army. He had a fresh slate and filed for custody after only visiting her a handful of times. Mr. Silis and Mr. Pinc not only listened to the complicated history of our case, but reviewed every single piece of evidence I gave them. Which given the ongoing litigation, was a lot.

The way family courts handle domestic abuse cases is extremely unfortunate, but finally having someone who was so dedicated on my team was truly a blessing. We were appointed a terrible GAL who wanted to give my abusive ex physical custody. And because of the skill of Mr. Silis and Mr. Pinc, they were able to not only prove the abuse she so flatly denied, but get her recommendations thrown out and I was able to keep sole custody of my daughter. But the biggest impact I felt was that for the first time since I filed for divorce I felt heard. Not only in our private meetings but in the court room. Great people and great experience overall

Following four years of a contested custody battle in KS, my wife and I hired Mr. Silis after moving to VA in response to a motion filed by her abusive ex-husband who was seeking to modify custody, and visitation of our four-year-old daughter. There was an immediate, and noteworthy difference with respect to how our case was handled after switching from our previous representation to Silis & Associates. The members of the firm communicated well, listened to what we had to say and expertly conveyed our case to the court. The difference was night and day, even during the early status hearings.

We had a significant setback when the guardian ad litem (GAL) appointed to represent our daughter refused to believe that my wife had suffered abuse (even after having been provided a mountain of evidence) at the hands of her ex-husband, and completely sided with him. A week before our hearing, she released her report which went so far as to recommend that he be awarded joint legal custody, and primary physical custody. This was terrifying to both my wife and I to say the least.

Mr. Silis and Mr. Pinc shifted their efforts to focus more on our case following the release of the GAL’s report to ensure the best possible outcome given the circumstances. Our legal team arrived significantly better prepared than the opposition, and by multiple accounts crushed both the opposing counsel and the GAL. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed by Silis and Associates handling of our case. In the end, even in the face of the GAL’s recommendation we were able to retain full legal, and physical custody of our daughter. I was facing some serious jail time for assault and battery after an altercation with my roommate. I hired Silis and Associates because they came highly recommended. Tom was fantastic. Not only did he get my charge dismissed, he was so good that another person literally came up to him after my case and asked for his business card. I hope I never find myself in a situation where I need a lawyer again, but if I am, I trust Tom.

I would not recommend this practice. My husband had spoken with the law firm two months ago, but has decided to not retain them after speaking to Tom Silis ONE time. I also spoke to Tom Silis, but was told the day of my face to face interview that there was a conflict EVEN THOUGH my husband spoke to them two months ago for 30 minutes. I called back to see if I could speak to Tom Silis. The secretary was quite rude and inconsiderate. Her tone was pretty much "Go away. We don't care to help even though you're legally blind". Not professional whatsoever.
