The office staff with whom I interacted was all very helpful, professional and friendly. The gentleman assigned my issue and his supervisor were a pleasure to deal with. The initial attorney with whom I dealt was okay. In her defense, some attorneys think it is necessary to be negatively disposed to some degree when they're across the table in any issue and it's really not.

I worked here about one year ago as an attorney and have never felt so mistreated as a female and a minority. The interview was great but then I realized that the managing partner likes to blur the lines between personal and business activities, as evidenced within my first week of work when she invited me to dinner and instructed me to stop working. She also invited a senior male attorney to join us who was about 11 years my senior who then encouraged me to "keep up with him." At the dinner I was asked where I was born and then comments were made related to my ethnicity, such as "Latina women like to abuse their men," followed by management asking me whether I thought the waiter "would be good in bed." The dinner lasted until about 1:30 AM, at which point management encouraged that I share hotel accommodations with the senior male attorney. If you are a female thinking of working here please do be cautious of potential harassment issues, specifically with one specific male attorney, who uses his position of power to take advantage of women, who is encouraged and enabled by management. I was terminated abruptly for not being a "good fit." What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and I have learned that you cannot even trust your fellow attorneys to treat you with respect because you are not of the same race/ethnicity.

Shapiro and Brown as many marginal firms do practices a churn and burn approach to hiring and training. This leads to a high turnover rate and substandard training.

Comfortable work environment with management who really cares about their employees. Plenty of opportunity for growth. If you want to enjoy going to work everyday, this is where you want to be!

Shapiro & Brown has a tendency to hire inexperienced staff members at a low rate of pay and thus they suffer a high turnover rate. Local HR is at best incompetent and the floor managers are borderline illiterate. From all outward apprearances this firm could not handle the transfer title of my bicycle.
