Horrible secretary. I called to inform the office that the attorney's information (address and phone number) has been incorrectly updated online in multiple sites and in medical vendor information with a doctor of the sane name. I the response was "I don't care." He then promptly hung up on me while I was explaining the situation in the middle of a sentence. I would think that the attorney would care because she will have missed business opportunities.

My brother and I hired Mary Mayo to represent us in an estate matter. We live in the Midwest and the case was taking place in California so communication was something we were concerned with when seeking out an attorney.
Mary was incredibly responsive and efficient in communicating the details and formalities required as we progressed through our case. We recommend her very highly.

Mayo + Mayo have worked with us on a variety of legal issues, guiding us through complex contracts and situations. They are friendly, extremely knowledgeable about the complexities of CA law, assertive, and best of all, they listen to your concerns and questions. I highly recommend them.

Mary was helpful to me over the phone in a brief consultation regarding estate law matters. Her phone manner indicated to me immediately that I would expect to feel completely at ease with her in a face-to-face meeting. Thanks, Mary

Mary was so awesome in our Families' case! I can't say enough, on how highly I recommend Mary and her husband Terry. We give them, the 5 star rating but they surpass that. Mary is dedicated to her clients, intelligent, knows the law to the fullest and fights for her clients. She will give you 120% into your case, if not, more. Mary & Terry have not only been our Lawyer's but also supportive. My Family and I, are very grateful, to have had found their firm.

Mary did a great job resolving the many issues I had with my Aunt's probate attorney (My aunts attorney described herself as the "opposition" to me, if that gives you an idea of the hell she perpetrated). It seems many probate attorneys have the same goal, the goal is to prolong the probate journey in an effort to keep a steady income. Mary Just wanted to solve my problems and she did.
I had the misfortune of enduring the shady actions of three previous attorneys communicating with the "opposition" only on the phone and in a collusive manner. No matter how many times I asked them to document VIA mail/e-mail, they refused...Phone calls cannot be recorded. Mary did as I asked and sent letters/e-mails that I could review. Mary was upfront and honest.

THANK YOU so much Mary Mayo. The 4 months of working with you has been a pleasure. You promptly returned my calls and emails, and guided me to get the answers I needed to any questions. You are a true professional, and give lawyers a good name. I will most definitely recommend you to my family and friends, should the need ever arise.

***detailed experience below***

My PREVIOUS probate lawyer held my case for nearly 2 years. The probate process should have taken roughly 6 TO 9 months had she only listened to our wishes, which was to work on having the title assigned to me and my siblings. Instead, she kept insisting to sell the property through probate which was not what we wanted. This probate was just one property which my parents did not have a will or living trust, and there were no debts against the property.

It has been nearly 2 years and the property is still in probate. This is when I began to contact other probate lawyers, none of which wanted to take over the case since they will most likely only be entitled to 10% of the fees assigned by the court.

I was losing hope until I got into contact with Mary Mayo. She took the time to listen to my case, while the other lawyers quickly declined, because it's been almost 2 years, and they will barely receive any compensation. I began to share with her my stressful experience with my current lawyer, and all I want is to close probate and have the title transferred back under my name and my siblings. Mary Mayo was surprised that the probate has taken this long. She was extremely compassionate. She understood that I was stuck in an awful situation, so much so that she would take the case for free if she had to. After a few days, my current lawyer turned the case over to Mary Mayo, and the previous lawyer will claim 90%, which leaves Mary Mayo only 10% of the probate fees. I felt this was completely unfair. I told Mary Mayo that I wanted to be present at the probate hearing when they determine how the fees are distributed. I wanted to explain to the court that 18 months of the 2 years, my lawyer stalled and tried to manipulate me into selling the home through probate, rather than just working on getting the home back to us, the children. I believe that if the court hears what I had to say, that they would give Mary Mayo her fair share of the probate fees. Mary Mayo told me that her goal was to get the title back to the children sooner than later. That if we tried to dispute the 90% my previous lawyer is claiming, that can potentially further delay the process of closing the probate. She then reminded me of our first conversation "that she will take over the case even if it's free, and the goal is the get my parents home back".

4 months after Mary Mayo took over, the probate was complete, and the property title was assigned to me and my siblings. My previous lawyer was paid approximately $13500 by the court for wasting 18months of my time and Mary Mayo only received approximately $1500 by the court, while if not for her efforts, my parents’ home would probably still be in probate.

Having worked with Mary Mayo, I’ve had a change of heart in how I perceive lawyers in general. Some lawyers do have their client’s best interest in mind, and genuinely care for them.

"Mary Mayo did a fantastic job for my brother and I. We were stuck in a protracted probate case and hired Mary to assist. She was highly effective and efficient. Mary determined the hold-ups, and assisted the other attorneys and appraisers with resolving them and pushing through to court approval. It was surprising to see how effective Mary was communicating with all the parties involved, and she clearly had a high level of experience and fluency in the laws and court processes. Equally important, Mary was very efficient with our money. She was very affordable, probably due to her clear understanding of the process. Thank you Mary!"

With just a phone call Mary Mayo sent me an affidavit which helped me settle a beneficiary issue with out going to probate. She did this at no cost.
