It is bad when you get to the point of having to sue your own lawyer for Malpractice, make a complaint agains’t him with the California State Bar. I am not sure if these reviews on here are all fake, but there is no way that they are legitimate with the experience I had.
Unfortunately I do what most are doing now; looking on Avvo at the reviews of trying to find a good lawyer. Obviously I was fooled by this mans scheme and made judgement solely on his reviews. I should have backed out at the beginning as it was problems from day 1. I still trusted the reviews were legitimate and stayed with him.
So I have a DUI case that he butchered and handled awfully. Its not a fact of winning or losing as I did not lose my case, but my friend who is a DA even said that he basically did what a public defender would do and I should have never wasted the money as in the end I just had to plead guilty to the DUI. I could’ve done this on my own.
So here is the rundown of my experience:
Countless times I would call him for updates, or even on days of court and he would just not respond. There was a time I had court and I emailed, texted and called and it took him days to respond. My case was dragged on for almost a year. He just doesn’t respond and I was only calling him on days after court as I wanted a status. He would go into his talk on how he had this client and that, and this is what he needed to do.
But here is the alarming part is how my case ended. The man after almost a year just signed papers for me. I am not from California and he knew this, after all, that is why he always went to court for me. I finally needed my case closed and so I accepted what the DA wanted which was just accepting the 1st time DUI and pleading guilty for it. But my attorney KNEW I was not in California and so accepted this plea like I was a California resident. Then he sends me some email after countless calls and emails after the case asking about it saying I need to enroll in this California School and etc.. Well I am not in CA so basically he from day one is making me violate courts wishes as unless I move to CA for 3 months to take classes, I violate courts orders and go to jail. Right after he sent me the email I called, emailed and everything asking what was going on and almost a month later he finally emails me back and tells me that he did his job the minute after he signed the paperwork. Real professionalism you want from your lawyer you paid huh? A MONTH after I finally hear back which as you know, courts don’t care if your lawyer isn’t doing his job.
So now I am having to get another attorney to do all the work that he didn't do. I am having to sue him for Malpractice as not only did he do nothing, he overcharged me $2,500 and won’t give the money back. So overcharged, having to pay another lawyer now, not being represented correctly and almost going to jail over my lawyer who gives zero communication…this is what will happen if you use him.
