Awful lawyer... She agreed to take my case then made excuse after excuse why she didn't do what she said she was going to. She missed deadlines, didn't make phone calls she was supposed to and couldn't even bring herself to obtain a copy of an order. I hired her because I live in Texas and needed someone to represent me in Virginia. I brought these concerns to her attention multiple times and she just blew them off. She decided to stop representing me when I again informed her I was unhappy with the representation I was receiving. She absolutely refused to return any money I had given her and left me high and dry. If you want someone to rip you off and give you awful representation this is your lady. If you want a good lawyer who looks out for your interests look somewhere else! This woman is a con artist at best.

My case involved custody, support, and visitation. Actions by the other party caused the case to be drawn out over an extended period. Liz maybe the most intimidating 5 foot tall woman on the planet. She’s a pit bull. During my nearly 2 year ordeal, we had 4 court dates. From the moment I called her I knew I had to hire her. Liz has been by my side since 2018 working on my separation and divorce. I am not stationed in Virginia anymore as I am on active duty but my ex-husband still lives there and she handled everything for me without hesitation. I didn't have to make a trip back to go to court and she insured that I got primary custody of my children. Ms. Wood acts as if she PREJUDICE. She is a BULLY with the City of Portsmouth and RUNS when she ya alone. She is a LIAR as she had me come to court on total lies and I still have the text messages she sent to me. She has NO RESPECT for other people’s children unless they are her own color perhaps. But my black children? She was RUDE to them and said some very disrespectful things to them. I had to MAKE her leave my children’s cases as GAL. She is the WORST to have ever held the title of “attorney!” Yes! I reported her to the Virginia State Bar also. And I’m going to report her anywhere else I can.

Ms. Wood was a pleasure to work with over the past year from the moment we met she approached my case custody with fire and determination. She made sure that all of the correct paperwork was filed quickly and correctly. She gave me her word that i would end up with my son and that is exactly what happened. She tried the case so that we could at least try and get me the minimum. She ended up getting me the minimum. She was very knowledgeable and listened carefully to me anytime I spoke with her. She was prompt at getting back to me when I had to reach out to her for anything. Ms. Wood didn’t just treat me like another person in trouble with the law like some people do—she treated me with so much respect and was so kind and reassuring. She was so thorough and knew exactly what the law said without having to look it up and also knew the maximum charges.

I suggest to get a second and even third opinion on your matter. A year later I am still paying for the lack of attention that was given toward my custody case and ultimately allowing infant twins to be taken across state lines with no specifics outlined in the order. And then when I let her know the order was incorrect in regards to what was discussed and what was actually documented she basically told me to figure it out and that there was nothing she could do. She came off as a hard worker and an overall “shark” that I needed but that was not the case. I ended up paying for a bunch of documentation that ultimately got us no where and made us both look incompetent in front of the judge; besides more money on top of the required retainer fee.
