I was not pleased with the treatment received. There were a lot of questions left unanswered. As far as I can tell he's a very nice man but not a very good doctor.

I was frustrated by my entire experience with Dr. Hurtado. He provided very little information at the outset and did not want to answer questions because he said he wanted to wait for all the tests. After the tests came back, he indicated I was fine, but still did not provide much information. He made almost an off-hand comment - in as much as it was unrelated to the reason for my initial referral - about some indication of chronic cocaine use. I have never used cocaine. When I told him this and expressed my concern about what he saw that made him think that, he told me it was fine and not to worry about it. I later received a second opinion and specifically told them what Dr. Hurtado had said and asked if they saw anything he might have been referencing and they told me they did not. When I later requested a letter from Dr. Hurtado’s office summarizing his findings from the exam that I wanted to provide to a third party, I was told I needed to make another appointment and have another exam. After having another appointment, Dr. Hurtado still refused to write a letter summarizing his findings because he claimed it was in the records. I requested copies of my records, however, and beyond the bare test results and physical exam notes, there was no indication of his finding or lack there of. I attempted to explain to him my frustration at having to make a new appointment when I made clear over the phone my purpose in calling was to request the summary letter and that his office could have simply told me over the phone that as a matter of policy he would never summarize his findings in a letter. He was incredibly defensive and apropos of nothing started talking about how lawyers just want to sue people. In general, I did not feel that Dr. Hurtado listened to me as his patient and this feeling was exacerbated by the fact that he would repeat the same questions sometimes multiple times and repeat back the information incorrectly or respond in a way that seemed to ignore the answer. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.

Called office regarding referral from Danville Emergency room staff for daughter. Told them she needed a neurologist to see her regarding latent concussion at work. Mentioned appointment necessary to evaluate for workman's comp. The receptionist stated they do deal with workman's comp or any type litigation. As previous commentor suggests; Duke doctors will have to see her once more.

As a nurse, I know a good doctor from bad. My husband was a patient and every question we asked was answered by him giving us a referral to Duke Medical Center. We were not questioning his diagnosis or practice, but requesting more information for my husband's care. He was so defensive that it impeded his ability to communicate.

I didn't even want to give this man one star. My visit began ok. But he then began to ask the same questions over and over (for instance, I stated my pain was only on left side, and he kept saying "so some pain on the right, mostly the left?"). He stated several times that his only job with me was to figure out what was causing my pain (from a car accident) and not "every ache and pain I've had over the last 25 years," which confused me, since I wasn't asking him about pain not related to the accident. I did tell him that I had migraine headaches, and asked if that was something he could see and treat me for. The answer I received was, "Later." Another point he kept beating into the ground was that he was one of only two neurologists in Danville (ok?). He asked me if I was in litigation, told him I had consulted with a lawyer but no court date was scheduled. That's when he really went bonkers, saying several times that he didn't have time to be involved with lawyers (remember, he's only one of two!) and he would have nothing to do with that. The nail in the coffin? At the end of the visit I said, "May I ask one more question?" to which he replied, "Bye."
Seriously?
