I want to 'dislike' this place but the employees seem earnest...
I had the sopes and they were flavorful but i wouldnt call it authentic if only because they use that shredded yellow and white cheese and they dont have sour cream or skim goat milk cheese; i dont thunk the chefs pick out their own ingredients. There menu is way too big, and so are their servings; i dont want to take a 'doggie bag'!
Other than that, the ambience is terrible; that place looks cliche and rundown (their sign is of an overweight, assumedly hispanic, male sleeping; sombrero and all!). The paint is old and it looks like it needs a major cleaning; there were dead flies on the window sill and the table felt grimy.
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place.

The service here is good. The servers are friendly. The food is consistently good, and if you have a special request you can talk to the cook - she is open to requests.
In addition to the standards you'll find on most menus in Mexican restaurants this one offers some steaks. I haven't had one, but the folks in my group who did were enthusiastic about them, saying they were prepared well and cooked to the right degree of doneness. Rare in one case, with a couple of mediums.
The last time we were in it was a slow time in the afternoon; we were the only occupied table. There was no impatience or fussy cleaning around us on the server's part as I have seen in other restaurants.
All in all, if you haven't been in this place, give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Ok cheeseburger hard to mess that up but for some reason they have no clue what well done fries means when requested.

This restaurant is my favorite. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The crew is very professional and the cuisine they offer is so delicious. I never decline to have a good meal in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.

This place is super decently priced. The chips and salsa were yummy and fresh. I loved their beans. They were amazing. The chickensuiza I got was just chicken in a corn tortilla. Would have like some cheese. However the chicken was in abundance. The “little”salad we got with our meal for a dollar was the best thing about the place. I loved it. My husband got the fajitas and it didn’t come like fajitas normally come, and he said they tasted a bit teriyaki but they were good. Overall YUMMY!

Yesterday was our first time we visited this fine restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last time. We enjoyed the evening very much with the attentive service, with the superb dishes and fine drinks and with the honest price. We will no doubt go back there soon.

I wish i could post a picture of my chili verde. It looked like egg flower asian soup mixed with a little green chili verde sauce and chunks of pork. The only reason i went there is because Tapatio was closed. Ill just have patience next time. Nothing authentic about this place. Im a cook and could have done a better job myself. The only thing authentic was the bottled beer. Service was good though.

Decided to give this place a try upon discovering "El Tapatio" just up the road was closed on Mondays. It was just okay. "El Tapatio" wins this match-up BY FAR. This place just isn't on the same level.

Beware!! They keep a trash can in the back that they recycle the chips in! Yep that is right!! There is a 90% chance that the chips you are eating are not fresh at all! Think of all the germs from peoples dirty hands that have touched a basket of chips or all the chips that someones kid licked all the salt off of and then put back in the basket. well when the waitresses clean off the tables after you leave if there are still chips in the basket they are required to dump them into a trash can so that the restaurant can heat them up and reuse those same chips on new tables.

I just wanted to smash everyone's negative reviews about El Nuevo being horrible. I came from Orange County where of course there is plenty of chain owned Mexican Restaurants as well as the little hole in the wall family owned places. So I've had my fair share of Mexican Cuisine. I must say that I know for sure that sometimes just depends but there have been times that the food has been a bit bland or off on it's flavors but horrible? I've never once experienced a horrible meal there. In my eyes and taste El Nuevo has a variety of different cuisine choices and the Mexican food that I've tried and enjoyed are plenty. Next time you stop in to El Nuevo order a Marinated Chicken Taco Salad.... If you think it's horrible than it must just be you because it's definitely not the food. Its delicious and the bomb.

Horrible food once again. Haven't been here in five years. I knew better but I was hungry. Got the #3 and the #21. one taco 2 enchiladas rice and beans. Chimichanga rice and beans. Figured they couldn't mess that up. Our service was fine but when our food arrived in about 4 minuets 27 seconds I was suspicious. Everything tasted old the salsa is horrible. The enchiladas were rubbery. We ate maybe a quarter of it and left. They didn't even offer the meal on the house. Who ever owns this chain of garbage Mexican food restaurants should be ashamed of themselves. I wouldn't feed that to my dogs. I hope I get sick so I can write another bad review.
