I can't sing enough praises about this kind and knowledgeable man !!

My sister is the executor of my mothers estate. I was already having issues with her taking advantage of her position.

I was pretty disappointed that she would even do this ... but before I called out the Marines, Doug went thru some options that he wanted me to be aware of. Clear headed thinking is always the best.

I followed his advice, and am still in limbo to see if my "peace offering" will work out.
In any event, if you are considering someone to plan your estate or a loved one, I could think of no one better to handle this.
Thank YOU Doug !!

No one wants to prepare a will. In my case, though, allowing the state of North Carolina to handle it wasn't a good option. Left undirected, my modest estate would have automatically gone to family members that either didn't need the money or who could be injured by a windfall inheritance (e.g., lose Medicaid and Social Security benefits). Instead, I wanted the money to go to my favorite charities. Plus, I wanted advice from real lawyers, not pin my life-time legacy on a homemade will. By chance during a financial seminar at the local Senior Center, I met a young attorney (Andrew Bullard) from the Doug Koenig law firm. On the spot, Mr. Bullard quoted me a fixed price for working up my will. That was promising. In the next few months, we worked out a will that truly suited me. While not part of my original plan, I decided that prepaying for funeral and burial costs and designating a Health Power of Attorney would probably be cost-effective and save my executor a lot of headaches. Mr. Bullard patiently guided me through the process. My impression is that the Doug Koenig law firm is a small, compassionate law firm bent on helping lower and middle-class clients at a reasonable cost. High powered clients with unlimited funds, major beneficiary problems, and wanting to dodge all tax loopholes might find equivalent services elsewhere. However, for people like me just hoping to do a decent will at a reasonable cost, I would highly recommend the Doug Koenig law firm.
