The inside of the venue is pretty. The "bridal suite" is a narrow room full of couches and desks, not much room for one person to get dressed, let alone three. The staff was very unhelpful. There was a severe lack of communication, not only in my party but the one before us as well! We meet that party while we were looking for someone to help us. We had to drive to the venue because no one answered our questions. I called four times, emailed the office assistant, and Facebook messaged to no avail! This place was nothing but an extra stress and waste of time and money.

Honestly, not even worth one star. We reserved this venue for our wedding after the reviews and recommendations by family friends. When we decided to rent this venue, we contacted Penny, an office assistant. She was rude, wouldn't reply to emails for extended periods of time, and waited 5 months to tell us she "hasn't received our deposit" that we sent in February. Upon further research into our bank records, we discovered that the check had been received, cashed, and been marked with her stamp in February when we had sent it.
We were told that an assistant would be assigned to help during the wedding. The woman they assigned did not help, was not present in our wedding until people began leaving, and rushed the remaining members of our families out even though we still had 5 hours before our contract ran out.
The venue inside was pretty and well kept. However, when asked about the PA system for reception music, the assistant said that she had never seen the PA system work and assumed it didn't work. The day before the wedding we were not notified of when to arrive to pick up the key to the Black Cottage. We tried to email and called multiple times with no answer. This was incredibly frustrating as we had rented the Black Cottage to get ready in and spend our first night as husband and wife. I had to drive out to the venue itself in order to get any help or information from anyone. Also, there were no directions given for how to find the cottage, nor was there a map of the grounds on the pamphlet we received so we were left to our own devices in finding everything.
The appliances of the Black Cottage were extremely old, outdated, and dirty. When we arrived, we noticed the expired food in the fridge (that had expired in July) and that the trash had not been taken out. The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable. The blankets and sheets were stained and the rugs needed to be vacuumed. The bathroom was filthy and had no hot water.
In summary, the venue is beautiful, but the staff are unhelpful, unprofessional, and rude. Additionally, the Black Cottage would be useful for a dressing room, but is NOT a satisfactory sleeping space. Save yourself the headache and get married somewhere else.

Beautiful place! I attended a workshop there and loved it. The view is amazing. The retreat center is on the small side so it might not work for large groups depending on the room set-up. We had round tables with chairs six to a table and had about 13 tables.
