It is told that he came to the Courthouse wearing a T-shirt, ragged jeans, and sandals. The Clerk asked if she might help him. He introduced himself. His stated purpose for visiting was to acquaint himself with local personnel and familiarize himself with the setting in which he was about to begin practicing his newly appointed position.

Without delay, he organized, modernized, and upgraded his office. As he appeared at meetings and hearings, he made reasonable suggestions and spoke of simple solutions to debtors, creditors, attorneys, clerks and judges.

Over time, in an effort to enhance the system to everyone's benefit, he spoke with some in the United States Congress and the United States Senate. He wrote at least one (1) letter to a Vice President of the United States. It is likely there were other letters to other Vice Presidents and even to Presidents.

Nothing deters this gentleman. He steadfastly works for all those involved in the bankruptcy system.

Some thirty (30) years ago, I met George W. Stevenson. His talent, guidance, knowledge, and friendship are very much respected and treasured by this writer.
