Very shady attorney practice. I was in a car accident a few years ago. Tried to work with insurance company myself to avoid attorney fees since it wasn't too serious. After a few months I realized insurance company was trying to take advantage of me so I decided to hire attorney. Unfortunately I picked Skip Wilson and they immediately came over to discuss case. At that point I had did all the leg work with doctor bills, missed work, etc. It was just a matter of negotiating with the insurance company. The most the insurance company would offer me before I hired an attorney was $4,000.00 which was less than my actual damage and Skip associates knew this. Within a week I got a phone call from them and they upped the offer to $5,000.00. I said to them, what good is that offer if I have to give you one third of that? Then I'll wind up with only $3500.00. Really? Attorney tried to strong arm me in to taking offer because they felt that was reasonable. I didn't. I also didn't go to them to lose money either. After my refusal of their advice, I received a packet in the mail telling me that they're dropping the case ( because I wouldn't take their advice). But wait there's more..... They also told me they were putting a $1000.00 lien on my settlement once it was settled " since they did get it from $4,000.00 to $5,000.00. I received this news on a weekend so needless to say I was fuming at the mouth and had to call their office anyway. I left a nasty message about their business practices and threatened to "sue the piss out of them if they attempted to put a lien on my settlement." Needless to say I heard from them first thing Monday morning via voicemail telling me they will remove lien off settlement. Meanwhile, within 6 months I went along with my original plan and handled my case alone without shady attorneys. The insurance company had an attorney and I ended up with a judgement of almost $9,000. 00. No attorney fees. For the record, I would have settled for $5,000.00 for myself. Georgia maximum to sue for is $15,000.00. If you're organized and have basic common sense, bring your case to the judge by yourself. Its not that difficult at all. My main reason for seeking attorney is because I had a bad address on the person who hit me . KF
