Security here was okay not really helpful, Parking is the worst ppl seem to just not want to help the public. And the few that are friendly there just not enough of them. So its a county building that sucks money from ppl. What else can you say?!

TL;DR

If you have a bad experience at Self Help, try back again when someone else is there.

Slightly longer version:
I went in to do divorce paperwork after the courthouse clerk referred me. The guy I talked to looked over worked and basically told me I was waiting my time. He recommended both my ex and I take a day off work (she's a teacher, not easy) to attend one of their workshops on short notice. I was very discouraged and left to struggle on my own as the ex and I agreed to leave lawyers out to not try and screw each other over (trying to keep the divorce on good terms).

After getting the paperwork rejected twice I returned to Self Help and the two ladies there were VERY helpful. Got the forms loaded up on a computer for me to fill out, reviewed everything and let me know what to do.

My case is pretty simple as we don't have kids and already agreed on how to separate everything. But still, the paperwork process to get married should be just as hard as getting a divorce.

Depending on who, they can be helpful. I do remember getting help from a Male aid and my Divorce papers had to be refiled. I did get with someone who was able to help me and I got everything finalized

This place is helpful, but be prepared to go to the clinics and/or workshops to get ANYTHING done. I've gone in asking for what my next steps for my divorce are ( preparing my own no attorney) and wanted get the papers started but they wouldn't tell me and told me I have to go to the workshop/clinic to get it started. So go online before heading to the self help center to see what days they have the clinic and workshops. It takes a lot of time to make sure you fill out papers correctly and to make copies(not in the self help center), to get papers notorized, signed, and submitted.

No one likes court stuff, but the staff is kind, courteous, and respectful. They have there hands tied as what they can or can not do, which can often lead to customer frustration but ultimately they truly give it their absolute best and make every effort to accommodate everyone's needs.

These people are awesome. They have to deal with some of the most high strung people I have ever met but keep calm and professional. That coming from a person going through a divorce and and child custody/support case, These people are awesome. Take a deep breath, relax, put you questions on paper first then see them. They're really helpful and can save you time and money. God bless ❣️

The self help at 3535 10th St. was bitter sweet. First the security is wonderful. Very gentle and helpful lady. I visited at 9:15 am on Friday, Dec. 5,2019. The female at the front desk was absolutely HORRIBLE( I'm so sorry I didn't get her name. She wore glasses, hispanic, broen teeth. She was rude, interruptive and sarcastic. She seemed to get her kicks from upsetting people. She offered the WRONG advice and her only option was to get rid of the citizen in need. I demanded to speak with the actual attorney who was so helpful. Her name is Alexandria. She not only listened but gave some wonderful options for me and assisted with the forms and proper wording.
If you have to visit "self help" please immediately ask from the lawyer on hand NOT the inconsiderate and unknowledgeable front desk clerk.

I needed to aquire some papers from way back in 1968 and Lupe in the Clerk's office was fantastic, friendly, and really knows what she is doing. This happy customer is pretty certain that Lupe is angel.

When your going through a difficult time there's nothing better than to feel that you have some level of support... I know this is going to sound strange however I felt a warmth of understanding from every that helped me with my paperwork... The truth is once you walk in the doors going through the metal detector the guards there are kind... I just thank everyone there for their kindness

Very helpful Divorce paperwork class. I really recommend their services over a paralegal service, or a lawyer. Through their services, you have a clear understanding of your rights and what is happening. The Lawyers there are interested in helping you settle your legal issue, not use your issue as a source of income and run your case based on how much money they can make from your bad situation. Be patient and understanding when you go. Realize that you are receiving a service free that would cost you hundreds of dollars from paralegals, or thousands of dollars from other lawyers. If you do your paperwork without their help, you could lose your winning case on a tecnacality. Doing your legal paperwork wrong could cost you months in delays, or you may have to file the whole thing again.

Went to get some papers looked over, they initially checked them and then told us it was the incorrect paperwork. We told them that self help had given us that paperwork and told us to attend a class which we did. Then after straightening out the paperwork issue, they proceed to tell us they refuse to help. In an attempt to get more help, one if the workers starts to mock our native language with a stupid smirk on her face. Awful place, little to no help.
