I've heard people say that PD are not on their side, that it's just a formality and that the public defenders don't care what happens to the accused they are representing.....
I've watched these attorneys and listened to how and what they are presenting to the courts on behalf of their clients. In my opinion, they are working hard to defend their clients, they are putting in the time to review the cases they are giving-more time would be nice but not practical based on budgets and time constraints.
Ultimately, they know the ins and outs of the criminal justice system and present the best case they can based on what was said and done by the accused (you know all the crazy that got people in courtroom). This may seem rushed to the less experienced non-attorney folks in the courtroom but it is like a choreographed dance routine. And I don't know about you but I'd pick Mr. Ooley amd Mr. Mattingly to be on my team any day of the week.
Thank you for taking the time to defend those who cannot afford private attorneys but are still entitled to legal representation.
