Laird and Associates did not discover (or if they did, they did not disclose to me) that a tax appeal had been filed in Fulton County by the sellers of my property immediately prior to the sale. When Fulton County dismissed the appeal, it resulted in nearly $3k of delinquent taxes and a pending tax lien on my home, of which I was not notified due to being on an assignment overseas as a uniformed service member. Laird’s negligence in his role as closing attorney nearly cost me my home. I hired him because the sellers had requested him, but wish I had used a reputable neutral party who would have performed the appropriate research to discover the appeal and disclose it at closing. I recommend seeking services elsewhere.

Rich is a great closing attorney, Holly is a fantastic paralegal/office manager; it's a small firm that makes you feel like the important client you are. Whether you are a seller or buyer you will be happy closing here. They get settlement statements/HUD's ahead of closing and check thoroughly to make sure there's nothing overlooked (no unpaid water bills, back taxes, liens, or otherwise). If you're not familiar with the purchasing process, Rich will go over the settlement statement line by line and even point out that items to review with your accountant for tax purposes; if you're a seller he will show you the expenses and make sure you're not overpaying or leaving anything on the table.
