I received a solicitation from the Law Offices of Collins & Lamore in January 2019. They requested I sign and return a retainer agreement to attempt collection of an unpaid court judgment, which I did. I heard nothing from Collins & Lamore thereafter. In April I reached out to them to inquire about the matter and was advised they had dropped the case as the defendant in the case had filed for bankruptcy in 2017 (Ch. 7) and the debt was discharged in 2018. I informed Amanda Sanchez, my contact at Collins & Lamore that our company had not received any notifications from the county of Orange regarding the defendant's BK and believed he had intentionally or negligently failed to list our outstanding judgment in his filing...if he had we would have received notification of the hearing date (should we wish to contest his discharge). I requested confirmation of the dismissal for this reason as it seemed that Collins & Lamore had not actually reviewed the filing. Amanda Sanchez said she would follow up on the matter but believed that our judgment could be deemed discharged even if it were not listed on the BK filing which seems unlikely. I have seen many debts successfully excluded from such discharges. Instead of providing me the promised document to review I was given a link to a site that requires membership and payment to search bankruptcy cases.

When I received the solicitation from Law Offices of Collins & Lamore and spoke with Michael I got a very convincing sales pitch detailing the proactive lengths they go to secure payment and I even provided them significant recent information on the defendant to aid in this effort. Now I seriously doubt they even looked at the bankruptcy filing and don't know if my company's judgment was listed on the filing or not. Their follow-up after signing their agreement was nonexistent, none of the promises were kept and I feel like they were probably equally negligent in their efforts to secure payment. Overall it was a complete and frustrating waste of time and given the absence of proof of debt discharge or notice of any kind from this law firm or the county, suspect the judgment remains active and collectible...they just didn't bother to look. If they had then they could have provided proof as this is a matter of public record. I remain dubious of the Law Offices of Collins & Lamore for this reason.
