After going through a divorce and finding out how horrible and damaging a bad attorney can be, I made sure to interview 6 attorney's for my felony DUI case. After interviewing and meeting with 6 attorney's one being Barry, I realized through talking to them that my case was really bad and that I stand no chance to win my DMV hearing. The other attorney's basically said that going to the DMV hearing would be pointless and that 90% of them are a loss. Barry was the only attorney that pointed out some of the flaws in my case and said that their might be a chance that we can beat the DMV hearing and the refusal charge. I decided to retain Barry and his office for my case. After meeting with Barry and seeing how knowledgeable he is regarding DUI cases and how much work he put into my case I felt very comfortable that I hired the right attorney for the job. Him and I discussed how we should proceed with the DMV hearing and decided that it is best that I go with him and testify. There is a lot of good things that I can say about Barry Simons. I had received a Felony DUI in May 2016. I was bailed out of jail. Upon my release, I inquired w.r.t. an attorney that has a high bar in ethics and was able to get results. After my inquiries and research, I ended up at Barry Simons law office in Laguna Beach. Now I have had previous felony priors, so I needed someone that was going to give me their best in representation. There is a lot of hype about lawyers that take your money and do not adequately represent you if at all. A lot of that is true and by firsthand knowledge. This is absolutely not the case with Barry. To this day I am still with this doctor. Barry got me proactive in my court ordered requirements. Now what I was facing and what I wanted the outcome to be were 2 different ideas. I resisted and Barry guided my thinking to a more practical level of what was to come. After a few court dates and some sobriety under my belt I was ready to face my consequences. The outcome was one of true marvel that Barry performed. I spent very little time in jail, not what I expected. I had the usual court ordered requirements outline by my case. He was able to make so that I avoided any court programs or lengthy incarceration. Today I am free and I have completed most of my court order requirements. In addition, I am still sober and happy. I owe all this to Barry Simons. If it weren’t for his personal dedication to my well-being and court case, I am not sure where I would be today. He never missed a court date nor was ever late. You get a lawyer to defend you right? Well the amount of defense that I saw when using this group made me sick, they happily took my money and told me that they thought they could reduce or even drop all charges because of "rising blood alcohol", not once during my entire case was that even brought up. They let a cop lie to the judge about something i didnt do and they didnt even back me up. When told that we could go to a trial they told me its another 5k but you wont win. So why did i even hire this group if it was gonna go to trial and then im told theres no chance. Biggest waste of cash and time ive spent. Youd be better off with a public defender over this group. I first met barry and was really looking forward to having him help and then after the first meeting i never saw him again. When i would call the office to ask any of the other lawyers whats going on they just had the lady on the phone answer my questions. Am i paying her? Or them?
